ALLEN, LOGAN,
MCCAMPBELL
posted by James Allen Smith on Wednesday, October

My gg-grandparents, James ALLEN and Elizabeth
LOGAN, were married in Rockbridge County, VA, in 1801 and migrated that
same year to Shelby County, KY, about 30 miles east of Louisville near
the Ohio River. An old handwritten document states they traveled with Alexander
LOGAN and Jane MCCAMPBELL and James McCampbell and Margaret LOGAN. They
arrived by water above The Falls of the Ohio (Louisville) and traveled
the short distance to the Shelby County area to join those who had migrated
from Rockbridge County (through the Cumberland Gap) by land. James McCampbell
and Margaret Logan remained near the landing site and eventually settled
across the Ohio River near Charles Town. Would anybody suggest the most
likely migration route they would have taken in 1801 from Rockbridge County
to a point on the Ohio River?

I am looking for any information on the following
family(s) : Thomas P. BURT - father Susan Leah SMITH - mother Ruth BURT
- daughter James BURT - son Clinte BURT - daughter, b. 04 Jan 1885 d. Jun
1957 I am also told : Susan Leah Smith had a sister, Lula, who married
a John SMITH. They had a son named Keen SMITH. The BURT - SMITH family
had roots in the Simpsonville, Ky., Shelby county area, and/or Crestwood,
Ky., Oldham county area. Thomas P. BURT could have possibly been from Indiana.
The BURT family moved to Sangamon county, IL., in the New City area, which
is just south of Springfield, IL., where they resided on a farm. I do not
know the exact date, but I estimate around 1900-1903 Their daughter, Clinte
BURT, married Royal H. White in Springfield, IL, at the First Christian
Church, estimated date, 1905-06. They had 7 children: Hiram E, Harwood,
James, Ruth, Ester, Leah, & Marjorie. Would appreciate any information
on these family members, or any suggestions that might help me to research
them. Thank you.
