Civil War Soldiers From Shelby County. The
Sixth Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regtiment.(Union) 1861-1864 was organized
by Col.Walter C.WHITAKER of Shelbyville,KY. It contained almost 100 men
from Shelby County including the following men who were officers:Robt.H
ARMSTRONG, James W.BRISCOE, Harrison CHOATE, Thomas R.DANKS, William B.DUNLAP,
Elisha HEDDEN, James H.McCAMPBELL, John P.MASON, Charles S.TODD,Richard
T. WHITAKER and Harvey R.WOLFE. I am writing a history of this regiment
and seeking access to letters, diaries and photos of its members. Any help
would be appreciated.

I am researching William BROWN who left a
will in Shelby County leaving his estate to Erasmus Travis Brown. Erasmus
TRAVIS was probably his son. He named Elijah MADDOX the will's executor
and Thomas Maddox Travis' guardian. The Maddox brothers were sons of Wilson
Maddox. Erasmus Travos married Sarah Ann LINDSAY on 30 October 1828 in

and his family who lived in Shelby County in late 1700s and early 1800s.
William died there in 1806. He lived there with either his 1st wife Margaret
RANKIN or his 2nd wife Agatha (Agnes?) PICKETT. He had a total of 11 children.

SHAW was in Shelby County ca 1800. His father was John SHAW and his mother
was Fanny CLEVELAND, unknown location. He married 1st Rachel VANDYKE, 2nd
Abigail Reed KIRKHAM, Shelby County. Their children Josiah and Peter Vandyke
Shaw were born in Shelby County before moving to Texas in the 1830's. I'm
interested in information on any of these families. Abigail supposedly

Shelby County - REED family - Abigail REED
married 1st Capt. KIRKHAM, 2nd James Joseph SHAW, early 1800's, Shelby
County. Her marriage licenses show both Caleb REED and Thomas REED as her
parent. Supposedly she was born in PA. Census records for late 1700's show
a Caleb and Thomas REED in Fayette County, PA. Are these her family? I'm

I would like to prove who the parents of James FERGUSON are; possibly that

of the death of Mary Ellen BUCKNER Fergusons' mother. She was Cordelia
Frances SUTTON Buckner. Cordelia was married to her first cousin, Benjamin
Pendleton BUCKNER. Cordelia was born 31 Dec 1802 in Scott Co. Her daughter
Mary Ellen was born 1824/1827 and I believe Cordelia may have died either

Shelby Co. KY By 1850 Simpson was in Daviess Co. KY with children. Polly
was deceased? I need parents for Polly MILLER. 1820 Shelby Co. KY Census
places her age in the 17-26 yrs group. I feel she was born in VA as some

Searching for Thomas BRACKENRIDGE (BRECKENRIDGE)
born c:1795 Bourbon County, KY. Died between 1860-1873. Son of James BRACKENRIDGE
and Jane (MAHAN) BRACKENRIDGE of Bourbon County. Thomas was in Bourbon
County in 1817 then sometime after1848 he was in Fayatte County (some info
shows on the Georgetown Rd.). His mother, Jane, went on to live with him
in her later years (she may have been in her 80's). Thomas 1st married
Catherine M. ? (she died Sept. 1880). Where and where they were married
is unknown. He them married a 2nd time, Jane ?. When and where unknown.
While he was living in Fayette County, he had 8 children: John C. b: Sept.
1820, d: Dec. 1900, in Coffeyville KS; Jane, b: ?, d: ? She married a CUMMINGS;
Jane, b: ? d: ? Married an ESTILL, when and where unknown; James b: c:1830,

in 1827. Family intermarried much with CASEs,SIMPSONs,MOOREs. Seperate
CASE b.1740 in VA then to Wash. and And.Co. Sarah McCARTY SIMPSON originally
from Marion Co. later married Thomas BURGIN and all her children married
