These are a series of letters written mainly by E. P. Benton with Lyman Draper regarding various places of interest in Estill County
E. P. Benton was Elihu Polk Benton, son of Jesse Benton, son of Richard Benton who came to Madison County early on around the very late 1700’s from Caswell Co., N. C.. Richard was a member of the Cornstalk Militia.
I have much history on him which is too much to share. My 2nd great grandmother was Ailcy Benton Easter.
Ailcy was E. P. Benton’s sister.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Also, these papers were copied from the interlibrary loan of the originals and all the misspellings were left intact for authenticity. I believe they were from the University of Wisconsin.
