Nellie Lee Compton Meade & Albert Richard "Alb" Meade. Nellie was the daughter of
John Wallace Compton & Ida Belle Adkins. She was born 22 February 1915 and passed
away 31 March 2001. She is buried in the Albert Meade Family Cemetery, Hurricane Creek,
Pike County, Kentucky, with her husband, Alb. Alb was born 22 July 1910 in Pike County,
KY. He was the son of Alexander Meade and Lindy Stephens. Alb was a farmer and a coal
miner, where he was crippled in a cave-in. He died on 7 April 1981. They had eight

Sambo Nelson & Jane Grace Derossett Nelson Sambo was the one shot of fourat the
Cannel Caol Gap, shooting, They were both from Prestonsburg, Ky. Those that diedthat
night were Sambo Nelson, age 50, propretor of the beer joint, Fred Adams, 65
deputysheriff. Willie Fannin 25, this was the man that started the Gun battle, his
younger brotherwhich died also was Hobart Fannin age 22. my grandmother was also shot in
the arm.Fannin came there looking for a Sammons man, that had arrested him for something
previouslyand Fannin held a grudge for this man. this was in the Floyd county times and

another son, Granville B. Osborne. Granville was married toJulia B. Haywood, shown
standing next to him. Standing next to Julia B. is hermother, Sara Jane Baldridge
Haywood. She is holding her granddaughter,Osie Osborne who later married Jeff Herald.
Osie was the mother of Edgar Heraldof Langley & Juanita Clifton of Dwale. Mack also had
4 other children not in thepicture (Fleming, Biddy, Dora, & Dona). 2 unidentified
granddaughters are shownon the right. The man on the horse by the wagon is Robert M.
Haywood, Julia's father. In the extreme rear is Mathias C. Osborne & his wife, Catherine
(Kate) Price Osborne, who came to Floyd County from Ashe County, NC in 1872 in
