SOUTHEASTERN JESSAMINE COUNTY

This photo was taken atop a hill overlooking much of Southeast Jessamine County, near the Sugar Creek and Little Hickman area. This part of Jessamine County was among the first to be settled in that part of the county and many of the original families remain there today. Among some of the early families to this area, were the Bruners, Hurts, Overstreets, Dickersons, Peels, Teaters, Blakemans, Houses, Fains, Reynolds, Comleys, Hagers, Sagesars, Canters and Lowerys, just to mention a few. A drive through this area is like taking a step back in time, as much of the landscape remains as it was when our ancestors settled in the area in the mid to late 1700s.
