Age 74, of Printer, Ky., husband of Josephine Meade Yates, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2001 at his residence. He was born October 12, 1927 in Garrett, Ky., the son of the late Andrew Jackson Yates and Maggie Moore Yates. Mr. Yates was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Martin, Ky., a retired coal miner, and a member of the United Mine Workers Association, Local No. 1373, Wayland, Ky. Survivors include five sons, Steven Yates and Denzil Yates Jr., both of Printer, Ky., Danny Yates and Tim Yates, both of Garrett, Ky., and Carter Yates, Martin, Ky.; five daughters, Connie Mullins and Pearlene Yates, both of Printer, Ky., Nadine Herrell, Columbus, OH, Helen Isaac, Martin, Ky., LaDonna Briggs, Prestonsburg, Ky., two sisters, Ester Hall Lawson, Harold, Ky., and Katherine Meade, Printer, Ky., 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Chris Yates, two daughters, Gwinna Davis Carroll and Anna Doris Yates; two brothers, Andrew Yates Jr., and Clifford Yates; one sister, Ethel Elliott; four grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Funeral services for Denzil Yates were conducted Tuesday, December 18, 2001, at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Ky., with the elders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints officiating. Burial followed in the Meade Cemetery, Printer, Ky., under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky. Visitation was at the church. Age 56, of Honaker, husband of Linda Sue Hill Yates, passed away, Sunday, June 27, 2004, in the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington. He was born May 20, 1948, in Floyd County, the son of the late Preston and Laura Kidd Yates. He was a former coal miner. In addtion to his wife, he is survived one son, Grady Lee Yates of Honaker; two daughters: Stephanie Lynn Sanders of Prestonsburg, and Mistie McCrae Yates of Honaker; two brothers: Palmer Yates of Honaker, and Elmer Yates of Huron, Ohio; four sisters: Naomi Yates of Honaker, Velma Lawson of Harold, Loretta Boyd of Wakeman, Ohio, and Katherine Creasy of Mulberry Grove, Illinois; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services for Darrell Yates will be conducted Wednesday, June 30, at 1 p.m., in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Junior Kidd officiating. Age 94, of Perkinston, Mississippi, formerly of Floyd County, the wife of the late Joe Yates, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2005, in Stone County Hospital, Wiggins Mississippi. She was born November 28, 1910, in Printer, the daughter of the late James Floyd Stewart and Mona Brewer Akers Stewart. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in Martin. Survivors include one son, Roy (June) Yates of Perkinston, Mississippi; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Yates; five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one son, Manifred Yates. He was a retired gas company employee and carpenter, and a member of the Old Time Regular Baptist Church at Printer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Belle Hall Yates. He is survived by two sons, Warren G. Yates of Harold and Franklin D. Yates of Honaker; five daughters, Inez Kilburn and Ruby Wallen, both of Martin, and Ella Mae Pyne, Vannie Dameron and Norma J. Age 54, of Lorain, Ohio, died Thursday night, September 25, 2003, at his brother"s home in Loudonville, after a 6-month illness. He was born February 7, 1949, in Prestonsburg. He lived in New London from 1959 to 1967, when he moved to the Lorain area. He was a 1967 graduate of New London High School. He had served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for the City of Lorain and was a member of Church on the North Coast in Lorain, and was a member of the Amherst Eagles. He loved music and traveling. He is survived by his wife, of eight years, Terah (Morrow) Yates; a daughter, Rachel and Jason Orgen of Vermilion; two sons, Nate and Lydia Yates of Amherst and Ryan Yates at home; two sisters, Marla and Don Helms, and Tammy Yates all of Ashland; a brother, Lloyd and JoAnne Yates of Loudonville; his mother, Estelle Schenk of Ashland; three grandchildren; two nieces and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Yates, and his step-father, Robert Schenk. Born on November 27, 1915, in Oneida, Tennessee, he was the son of the late William M. Younce and Ella Phillips. He was a former miner at Sandy Valley Coal Company at Water Gap, and former supervisor of Floyd County Conservation District for 18 years. He was a member of the United Baptist Church; a member of United Mine Workers of America; and Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. He is survived by his wife, Opal Calhoun Younce. Ida married Earl Younce on July 12, 1956, at Wheelwright, Kentucky, and to this marriage came 13 children. Ida was preceded in death by two sons: Melvin Younce and Garry Younce; four brothers: Luther Gibson, Dewey Gibson, Ballard Gibson, and Ellis Gibson, and seven sisters: Draxie Collins, Hattie Cole, Zettie Johnson, Ethel Calhoun, Lettie Hall, Maggie Campbell and Mary Liz Caudill. Ida is survived by 11 beloved children and their spouses: Janet (Paul Dean) Hall, Sherry (Buford) Thomas, Johnny (Sharon) Younce, Glenda (Olin Gene) Amburgey, Kenny Younce, Ricky (Mary Jane) Younce, Paul (Cathy) Younce, Peggy (Jeff) Edwards, Terry (Patricia) Younce, Sammy (Lori) Younce, and Brenda (Tommy) Hall; 29 grandchildren, 12 step-grandchldren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 14 step-great-grandchildren. Age, 89, of Prestonsburg, died Saturday, July 24, 2004, at Highlands Regional Medical Center. Born August 30, 1914, in Water Gap, she was the daughter of the late Elzie Calhoun and Donie Wallen Calhoun. She was a homemaker, and a member of New Hope United Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hobert Younce, on March 3, 2000. They were married for 63 years. Survivors include two sons: Leon Younce (Ruth) of Prestonsburg, and Adis Younce (Wanda), of Salyersville; three sisters: Easter Belle Slone of Blue River, Loma Hatfield of Prestonsburg, and Blanche Mae Younce of River; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren and three step-great-great-grandchildren. Opal had some very special friends who helped care for her: Birdie Cole, Darlene Holland, Christine Holland, Janie Goodman Wright, and Wanda Bentley. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Raymond Calhoun, Graham Calhoun, and Arlen Calhoun. YATES Gracie M. "Tootsie" Lyons Hoover
Age 84, of Garrett,
wife of Danny "Tucker" Yates, died Saturday, November 3 at her residence. She was born March 27,
1923 in Garrett, a daughter of the late Ben and Lizzie Patton Lyons. Gracie was a homemaker and
member of the Hueysville Church of Christ. In addition to her husband she is survived by one son
Kenneth Sturgill, his wife Paula, Plymouth, Oh., eight daughters, Barbara Shepherd, her husband
Lowell, Avilla, In., Erma Johnson, her husband Bruce, Plymouth, Oh., Beatrice Haney, her husband
Chris, Paintsville, Sheila Jackson, Garrett, Louise Yates, her husband Tim, Garrett, Connie
Newsome, her husband Denver, McDowell, Lucy Samons, her husband Lawrence, Garrett, Elizabeth
Joseph, her husband Robert, Prestonsburg, 24 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and her
beloved companion, "Bussy Boy" Buster. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband
Maynard Hoover, one brother, George K. "Buster: Lyons, and one sister, Virginia "Sissy" Smith.
The funeral service for Gacie Yates will be conducted Wednesday, November 7 at 2 P.M. in the
Hueysville Church of Christ, Hueysville, with Chester Varney officiating, Burial will follow in
the Webb Cemetery, Maytown, with the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, caring for those arrangements.

YATES Robert Lee
Age 62, of Printer, died Nov. 15th at his residence. Born son of Marion Yates and the late Martha Bell Hall Yates. survivors include father, two brothers, Frank and Warren G. Yates; five sisters,Ella Mae Pyne, Inez Kilburn, Vannie Damron, Ruby Wallen and Norma Jean Mature. Burial was in the Meade Branch Cemetery at Printer, KY.
