He was a retired carpenter and a member of Salt Lick Community Church, Hueysville. He is survived by his wife, Dottie Ratliff Neeley. Born on March 14, 1929, in Floyd County, he was a son of the late Stonewall J. and Anna Stratton Neeley. He was a retired guard attendant at the Lima State Hospital. He was a member of the Doyle Miller AMVETS Post 39 of Lakeview, Ohio; a member and past master of Wayne Lodge No. 569, F&AM; a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo, a member of the Aladdin Temple of Columbus, Ohio; member of the Hardin County Shrine Club of Kenton, Ohio, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 273 of Waynesfield, Ohio, where he was Worthy Patron for several years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge No. 3615, Indian Lake, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma M. Sparks. Survivors include two sons, Steven Neeley of Roundhead, Ohio, Mark Neeley of Lakeview, Ohio; one brother, Lawrence Neeley of Alger, Ohio; one sister, Mary Douglas Gossard of Roundhead, Ohio; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Born June 14, 1924, in Magoffin County, she was the daughter of the late Pearl and Myrtle Howard Salisbury. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Neeley. Survivors include two sons: Coy Neeley Jr., of Garrett, Indiana, and Edgar Warrix of Auburn, Indiana; two daughters: Mary Bailey of Hueysville, and Ruey Carroll of Corunna, Indiana; a brother, Joe Salisbury of Gunlock; a sister, Jacqueline Shepherd of Silver Lake, Indiana; 11 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. Age, 68, of East Point, died Saturday, January 18, 2003, at Highlands Regional Health Center. Born August 13, 1934, at Bays Branch, (Floyd County), she was the daughter of the late Dave Webb and Percella Tackett Webb. She was a former dental office receptionist for Dr. Garland Godsey. She was a member of the Free Pentecostal Church of God, at East Point. She is survived by her husband, Will Nelson of East Point. Other survivors include two brothers, Kaynard Webb of Hager Hill, and Gene Webb of East Point. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, January 21, at 1 p.m., at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, Prestonsburg, with Tommy Nelson and Buster Hayton officiating. Born March 12, 1975, in Floyd County, he was son of Don Nelson and Louise Slone Nelson of Prestonsburg. He was a student of Osteopathic Medicine at Pikeville College. He is survived by his wife, Terri McCall Reynolds Nelson. In addition to his parents, and wife, he is survived by three brothers, Donald Grant Nelson of Paintsville, and Frank Douglas Nelson and Jimmy Lee Nelson, both of Prestonsburg; three sisters, Tamera Lynn Bartley of Prestonsburg, Sheila Ann Collins of Auxier, and Barbara Hook of Pikeville. Born on February 1, 1933, in Floyd County, Ky., he was the son of the late Homer and Pearlie Jane Hackworth Nelson. He was a self-employed owner of Pyramid Body Shop. He was a Korean War veteran. Survivors include two sons, Randy Nelson and Rick Nelson, both of Warsaw, Ind.; one daughter, Sandy Nelson Brito of Syracuse, Ind.; four brothers, Walter Nelson, Homer Nelson Jr., John Nelson, and Ronnie Nelson, all of Prestonsburg, Ky.; three sisters, Eva Adams of North Manchester, Ind., Geneva Whitaker, and Vickie Poe, both of Prestonsburg, Ky.; and six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, several step-children and step-grandchildren. With a sad and aching heart, I"ll try to write an obituary of my son, Tommy Nelson. He was born January 5, 1943, to Tom and Sally Nelson of Prestonsburg. His father preceded him in death on December 17, 1976. He was employed at Harvard Industries for 33 years. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and bowled on several bowling leagues. He most enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was first married to Norcie Dotson who preceded him in death. To this union was born one daughter, one son, and five grandchildren. He later married, Sandy Smith, who survives. Other survivors include one daughter, one son, five grandchildren, one step-daughter, one step-son, and one step-grandson. Funeral services were held January 30, 2003 at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home of Albion, Michigan, with the Rev. Estil Hamilton officiating. Interment was at the Riverside Cemetery at Albion. Born September 8, 1925, in Floyd County, he was the son of the late Hiland and Martha Osborne Nelson. He was a retired Department of Transportation employee for the Floyd County Board of Education; a W.W. II veteran of the U.S. Army; and a member of the East Point Pentecostal Church. She was born on March 4, 1921, in Logan, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Jake and Goldie Bailey Petry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Nemet in 1997. She was of the Methodist faith, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. He had been a sheet metal worker with Smith-Boughan. He attended both Lima Baptist Temple and Ark of the Covenant Baptist Churches. He was a member of Local 24, Sheet Metal Workers Union. He graduated from McDowell High School in Kentucky. He was a past master of Humer Lodge No. 167, Wapakoneta, and enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, golfing, and his children and grandchildren. NEWMAN, Brenda Lou Salyers

Passed away May 21, 2006, at Nottingham City Hospital in England after a long illness. Brenda was born and raised at Eastern, Ky. and graduated from Maytown High School. She graduated from Berea College in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics and went on to the U.S. Army where she achieved the rank of Captain. After leaving the Army, she continued her education at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where she received her Masters Degre. This is where she met her future husband, Dr. Geoffrey Newman. She was a long time resident of Derby, England and a member of the Women"s Institute (a voluntary organization which provides support for many community issues in the UK). Brenda will be greatly missed by many people who loved her Brenda and her husband Geoffrey came back often to Kentucky and Tennessee areas to visit family, friends and the Appalachian hills they loved so well. Her generosity, support and humor were great gifts she shared with everyone. Even though it has been almost a year since we lost her, we will continue to keep her memory strong in our hearts. Brenda was preceded in death by her Father, Hudson Salyers and Mother, Goldia Martin Salyers and Brother, Delbert Glen Salyers. She is survived by: Her Husband of over 37 years, Dr. Geoffrey Newman, Two Sisters, Reba (Glenn) McClanan of Virginia Beach, VA., and Velinda Salyers of Houston, TX. NEWMAN, Garry Douglas

Age, 60 years old, born July 18, 1941, in Hi Hat, Ky., the son of Mr. Henton and Loreena (Ross/Parker) Newman and Andrew Parker and Marcettia (Hall) Newman. Garry had been living in Michigan, since 1955. He was a veteran of the US Army Company A 17th SIG BN APO 164 Ranger Battalion armed forces and National Guards in Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor, Mi. Garry was employed at GM in Ypsi as a Forman and computer painter, and also in Arlington, Tx. He retired in 1993. He was a member of the Whitmore Lake Rod and Gun Club and the American Rifle Association; a past member of the Moose Lodge in Hamburg, Mi. He enjoyed flying planes, being a ham operator, and loved NASCAR and stock car races. He was a frequent visitor of the race tracks in Michigan. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, a loving wife of 36 years, Patricia L. (Jones) Newman, daughter, Kim Loraine Hollister and husband Kevin, and granddaughter, Cheyenne, of Munith, Mi.; son, Kevin Douglas Newman and wife Dawn (Weston) Newman, and grandsons, Richard and baby Kenneth Newman, from Gregory Mi.; and sisters, Barbara Lou Hayden and Ellen Mae Akers, of Ky.; sister-in-law, Sue Newman of Ky.; sister-in-law, Mrs. Barbara Fouchey (Robert) from Brighton, Mi., and brother-in-law, Thomas Jones (Mary Kay) from Grand Blanc, Mi.; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Fritz and Keith Ditmore. Garry was a special papa to all the little ones who loved to be with him. He was born March 15, 1911, in Galveston, the son of the late James Newman and Judy Martin Newman. He was a retired teacher and farmer. Survivors include his wife, Melvina; three sons: Larry D. Age, 87, of Robinson Creek, died Saturday, August 12, 2000, at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital. Born in Pike County, November 4, 1912, he was the son of the late Nancy Hampton Newsome and George W. Newsom. He served as a teacher for nine years and was employed by American Electric Power Company of Pikeville for 36 years. He was a member of the 1932 4-H Poultry Judging Team and continued being an outstanding leader in the Pike County 4-H program through 1999, and was instrumental in establishing a Farm Bureau in Pike County, and served as president and as a member of the board of directors. He also served on the board of directors and attended many Southern States functions. He served as secretary/treasurer for Grace Baptist Church and Sunday School President, a deacon of the church, Little League and Babe Ruth Program member for 27 years, member of the Shelby Valley Hall of Fame, and was instrumental in securing a local fire department for his community. He was also the first chairman of the Pike County Cooperative Extension District Board. He is survived by his wife, Eliza Ellen "Bill" Newsom. Other survivors include two sons, Lawrence R. She was born April 12, 1927, in McDowell, the daughter of the late Shelby and Burnette (Hall) Newsom and had been an Ashtabula resident most of her life. Mrs. Newsome was a member of Lily of the Valley, Old Regular Baptist Church for 35 years, where she was very involved during her younger years. She also wrote beautiful poetry and enjoyed cooking and crafts. Her survivors include her husband, Chester, whom she married August 22, 1942; 10 children, Carlotta Schlick of Dunnellon, Florida, Randy Newsome of Beverly Hills, Florida, Janette Davis of Concord, Roger D., Ron, Fred, and Gary Newsome, all of Ashtabula; twins, Carl Newsome of Cleveland and Janet McCraken of Geneva, and Sandra David of Ashtabula; 26 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Roberta Frasure of McDowell. Born June 17, 1945, in Michigan, he was the son of the late Edward Anothy and Hilda Nidzielski. He was a disabled painter. Survivors include three sons, J.D. Age, 47, of Emmalena, died January 7, 1999, at his home. He was bom in Knott County, on April 8, 1951, the son of Daniel Noble and Rhoda Everage. He is survived by his wife, Rosa Lena Noble; mother, Rhoda Everage; one son, Esfill Lee Noble of Emmalena; one daughter, Evelyn Sue Smith of Hueysville; five brothers, Homer of West Liberty, Riley of LaGrange, Indiana, Clayburn and James Chalmer of Emmalena, and South Jr. of Lexington; two sisters, Sally Ann of Lotts Creek, and Mary Jane of Hazard; two grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, January 10, at noon, at the Lotts Creek United Baptist Church, with Charles Smith, Corbett Ritchie, Carlos Everage, Odis Hall and Jimmy Hylton officiating. Age, 89, of Prestonsburg, died Friday, August 23, 2002, at Highlands Regional Medical Center. Born on June 2, 1913, at Lily, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late John Moore and Rebecca M. Jones Moore. She retired from the Jefferson County Board of Education; was a member of the First Baptist Church, Prestonsburg, and the Prestonsburg Senior Citizens. Survivors include one daughter, Betty Kalos of Prestonsburg; four sisters, Beulah Cassidy of Corbin, Wanda Casey of Keavy, Rotha Smith of Lily, and Edith Cole of Hamilton, Ohio; three grandchildren, Dee Dee Callis of Prestonsburg, Mitchell Kalos of Charleston, West Virginia, Brad Kalos of New York, New York; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Monday, August 26, at 11 a.m., at the First Baptist Church, Prestonsburg, with Dr. Floyd Price officiating. Interment was at Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Prestonsburg. Age, 78, of Warsaw, Indiana, died Friday, September 1, 2000, at Mason Health Care in Warsaw. She was born April 12, 1922, at Prestonsburg, the daughter of Frank and Susan Simpson Harris. She had been in the Warsaw area since 1944 and had been a nurse's aide at Miller's Merry Manor. She was affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Columbus Martin. In addition to her husband, Lee Norris, she is survived by two sons, Grover and Junior Martin, both of Warsaw; six daughters, Anna Bailey of Leesburg, Indiana, Christine Love of Bristol, Indiana, Mary Prout of Warsaw, Kate Neinow of Cocoa, Florida, Sarah Working of New Port Richey, Florida, and Helen Melkonian of Williamsburg, Virginia; two stepdaughters, Beverly Sue Green of Benton Harbor, Michigan, and Marlene Tudor of Elkhart, Indiana; one stepson, Burdette Herschel Norris of Mishawaka, Indiana; two brothers, Fred Harris of Warsaw and Jack Harris of Evansville, Indiana; and one sister, Georgia Shepherd of Prestonsburg. NUNNERY, Donald Clark

Age, 60, of Lexington, formerly of Prestonsburg, passed away Saturday night, April 14, 2007. He was the son of Lucille Nunnery and the late Byron D. Nunnery. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky, with post-graduate degree from Eastern Kentucky University. He was a former teacher and assistant football coach at Prestonsburg High School, and also served on the City Council, and was personnel director at Highlands Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Darnell Bowen Nunnery of Lexington. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a son, Rick Nunnery of Lexington; a daughter, Traci McMillen of Morehead; a brother, B. Dixon Nunnery of Prestonsburg; three sisters: Barbara Graves (Steve) of Lexington, Mary Castle (Mike) of Prestonsburg; and Leigh Stanley (Ron) of Lexington; nieces: Kristi Slone and Kimi Nunnery, both of Prestonsburg; and Lindsey Sutton, Cate Stanley, and Taylor Stanley, all of Lexington; nephews: B.D.
