Passed away November 26, 2007 unexpectedly in his home. Charles was born July 22, 1935 in Wayland, KY, the son of the late Hazel (Elliott) and Chester Dagnan. He was a member of the South Fairborn Baptist Church and loved fishing, his grandchildren and was well respected and loved by friends and family. Charles was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy and Bill Dagnan and grandson, Tyler Dagnan. Survivors include his wife, Judy; four daughters and spouses, Judy and Pete Seeth, Janet and Greg Powers, Pam Ellingson and Joyce Carbone; one son, David and fiancC) Debbie; step-daughters and spouses, Angela and Jerry Benasutti, Marie and John Walker and Mike and Dixie Kilgore; granddaughters, Dawn Dawson, Mercedes Dagnan and Lacey Walker; grandsons, Dallas Walker, Jason Bryant, Nick Benasutti, Casey Benasutti, Toney and wife Sarah Benasutti, David, Chad, Todd, Josh, Steven, Lecena and April; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Cody Dawson, Matthew and Cameron Bryant and Andrea Benasutti; 10 brothers and sisters, Johnny, Bill, Carl Ray, Everett, Jimmy, Raymond, Brenda, Linda, Betty and Louise. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. November 29, 2007 in the Burcham Funeral Home, 119 E. Main Street, Fairborn with services being conducted at 11 a.m. November 30, 2007 from the funeral home. Rev. Silas Hoskins and Jim Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Byron Cemetery.

Age 88, of Ivel, died Wednesday, November 1, 2000, at Riverview Manor Nursing Home, following an extended illness. Born on February 17, 1912, in Endicott, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Hattie Francis Samons Endicott. She was a member of the Daniels Creek Community Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ed Jarvis and later by Lewis Dale. Survivors include seven sons, Luther Jarvis of Raccoon, Esau Jarvis and Douglas Jarvis, both of Prestonsburg, Jake Jarvis of Banner, Monroe Jarvis and Edgar Jarvis, both of Tram, Herman Jarvis of Ypsilanti, Michigan; three daughters, Frances Vanover of Stanville, Alice Graves of Tennessee, Sondra Justice of Betsy Layne; four sisters, Fannie Garrett of Banner, Rell Harlis of Auxier, Lou Ethel Jarrell and Minnie James, both of Prestonsburg; 41 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 4, at 11 a.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, with Birkey Lewis and George David Garrett officiating. Born February 18, 1976, in McDowell, he was the son of John and Georgia Shannon Patton Dalton of Wayland. He was a coal truck driver for Jacobs Construction. Survivors include one son, Dylan Ray Dalton of Garrett; one daughter, Emily Morgan Dalton of Wayland; two brothers: Jeff Dalton of Wayland, Johnthan Dalton of Oil Springs; five sisters: Terri Howell, Matista Conley, Bonita Griffith, and Matilda Dalton, all of Wayland, and Melissa Bentley of Garrett; two nieces and five nephews. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, February 1, at 1 p.m., a the Zion Deliverance Church, in Wayland, with Clabe Mosley officiating. He was a US Navy veteran, First Class Petty Officer, president of Damron and Damron Cinder Block Co. of Elkhorn City, and later superintendent of construction for Ryan Homes in Indianapolis, Indiana. He retired to the Keys in 1981, where he became a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Moose Club. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Picklesimer Damron; a son, Gene C. Damron of Indianapolis; a daughter, Kay Thacker of Key Largo; two brothers, Jennings Damron of England and E.W. Damron of Pikeville; two sisters, Pauline Amburgey and Earline Spears, both of Ashland; four grandsons, and two granddaughters.. Cremation was arranged by Beyer Funeral Home of Key Largo.

Age 66, of 4017 Chapel Lane, Owensboro, Ky., died Friday, September 14, 2001, at his home. The Paintsville, Ky. native retired as vice-president and general manager of WOMI / WBKR and WBIO. The United States Army veteran was a member and 30-year deacon of Bellevue Baptist Church. He was a Kentucky Colonel, former member and vice-president of Southtown Kiwanis and former member of Owensboro Downtown Inc. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Betty DeRossette Daniel; one daughter, Paula Jo Steele, of Salt Lake City, Utah; three grandchildren, Danielle Nicole Steele, John Christopher Steele II, and Natalie Jo Steele, all of Salt Lake City, Utah; two sisters, Mary Sue Butcher, of Tutor Key, Ky., and Nancye Louisa Moore, Van Lear, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews. He was former owner of State Wide Press, Prestonsburg, Ky.; a former teacher at Alice Lloyd College, Pippa Passes, Ky.; a graduate of Alice Lloyd College; a member of Cow Creek Freewill Baptist Church and Sunday school teacher for 47 years; and Navy WW II veteran, stationed in the sea of Japan. He is survived by his wife, Eunice Jarrell Darby of Prestonsburg. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sammy Clark Freewill Baptist Church at Dana. Survivors include a son, Johnny R. Kidd of Harold; a daughter, Lisa Stumbo of Harold; five brothers, Harold Kidd, James Kidd, Bobby Kidd, Hershel Kidd and Lee Kidd Jr., all of Harold; three sisters, Offie Jarrell of Harold, Phyllis Newsome of Frankfort, and Gail Harvey of Honaker; and two grandchildren, Drew W. Stumbo and Brooke McCoy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Kidd; and a sister, Eloise Adkins. Age 56, of Newcomerstown, died July 20, 2007, at her home. Born May 17, 1951 at Van Lear, she was the daughter of Ruby Griffith Powers and the late George Powers. She is survived by her husband, Gary Preston. Other survivors include two sons: Eric (Angela) Davis and their sons, James and Benjamin of East Point, and Aaron (Melissa) Davis and their children: Kyle and Kelly of Lowmansville. She will also be missed by her siblings which include three sisters: Neva Ferrell of Lake Como, Florida, Lavern McCluve of Navarre, Ohio, and Georjia Marsillett, of Prestonsburg; three brothers, Darrell Powers of Auxier, Mike Powers of Auxier, and Cecil Powers, of Massillon, Ohio. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Powers and her son, James A. Davis II. A memorial service was held at her home in Newcomerstown on July 23, with The Rev. She enjoyed her roses and doing crafts, and enjoyed the holidays, especially Christmas. Age 90, of Prestonsburg, died Wednesday, August 15, 2007, at his residence. He was a retired attorney at law. Born July 4, 1917, in Louisville, he was the son of the late Dr. Andrew Jackson Davidson and Jessica Correll Davidson Housah. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, in Prestonsburg, and taught Friendship Sunday School Class for 50 years. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post No. 5839; a charter member of Friends of Samuel May House; a charter member of the Floyd County Historical Society; and a member of the Floyd County Bar Association. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II. He graduated from Davidson College in 1939, and was a graduate of the University of Kentucky Law School. He is survived by his wife, Roberta Wells Davidson. In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Deborah Louise Davidson Hicks (Derek) of Prestonsburg; and two grandchildren: Greta Davidson Hicks and Jessica Davidson Hicks, both of Prestonsburg. He was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Jackson Davidson III. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 18, at 1 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church, with Dr. Harold Dorsey officiating. Interment will be in Davidson Memorial Gardens, in Ivel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Deerfield. She is survived by one son, Wayne Edward Deerfield of Kenova, West Virginia; one daughter, Billie Jean Flowers of Melbourne, Florida; one brother, Carl Tufts of Nicholasville; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Estill Delong; two infant children: Mae Delores and Lee Francis Delong; two daughters: Aileen Campbell and Rena Vanderpool; and one granddaughter, Lynn Tussey. She is survived by one daughter, Opal Boggs of Ashtabula, Ohio; 10 grandchildren: Sheila Setser of East Point, Gail Sheridan of Beavercreek, Ohio, Sandy Fields of Prestonsburg, Vicki Fuller, David Boggs, and Joe Boggs, all of Ashtabula, Ohio, Steve Berkiowitz and Debbie Cox, both of New Jersey, Tina Chastain of Kentucky, and Earl Ray Robinson of Florida; 17 great grandchildren, and two great- great grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who lived her life through Christ. She was a great inspiration to her family and all who knew her. She will be sadly missed. DERMONT, Robert Stephen
Obituary, The Floyd County Times, Prestonsburg, Kentucky, Thursday, 10 February 1972, front page. A Floyd county man was killed in a two-car, head-on collision early last Thursday night near Carrie, Perry county, and his wife was seriously injured. The victim was 19-year-old Robert Stephen Dermont, of Martin, who was a student at Prestonsburg Community College. He was dead on arrival at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital. His wife, Elda Black Dermont, suffered multiple fractures but later was transferred from the Hazard hospital to Our Lady of the Way Hospital, Martin. The crash occurred on a road made slippery by snow and freezing rain. Dermont's auto collided with a car driven by David Dixon, 32, of Hazard. Dixon suffered bruises. A native of Martin, young Dermont was graduated from high school there and was a member of the Catholic Church. Besides his widow and his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Kathryn Anne; a brother, Joseph Dermont, of Martin; two sisters, Mrs. Teresa Webb, Cincinnati, O., and Mrs. Ellen Maggard, of Paintsville, and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. S.D. Dermont, of Martin. Funeral services were conducted Monday morning by the Rev. William Poole from St. Juliana Catholic Church at Martin and burial was made in Davidson Memorial Gardens at Ivel under direction of the Hall Brothers Funeral Home. He was a retired business owner of a service station, and attended the Auxier Freewill Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Crum DeRossett. Other survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Donna Carol and Chris Dye of Prestonsburg; a sister, Betty Jo Daniel of Owensboro; a niece, Paula Jo Steele of Salt Lake City, Utah; great nieces and great-nephews: Natalie Jo Steele, Danielle Nicole Steele and John Christopher Steele II. She was born May 25, 1916, at Rhodafeild, West Virginia, a daughter of the late John and Vina Mae (Elkins) Ratliff. She was a member of the Tom Creek Baptist Church. She was married to Ollie DeRossett, who preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons, Phllip (Bud) Morris DeRossett of Milford, Ohio, and John Hillard DeRossett of Palmetto, Florida; one daughter, Phyllis Jean Deem of Blanchester, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was born March 15, 1918, at Bonanza, a daughter of the late Sherman C. and Martha L. Music May. She was a charter member of the Community Methodist Church of Prestonsburg. She was twice married, first to Otis Cooley, and later to Jack DeRossett. Both preceded her in death. She is survived by five sons and their wives, Otis Hansel and Frances Cooley, Harry Vincel and June Cooley, Ronald Lamar and Connie Cooley, and James William Cooley, all of Prestonsburg; and Caleb Bernard and Edwina Cooley of Pikeville; two sisters, Oma Hughes and Malta Porter, both of Prestonsburg; 15 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed caring for her family and others, quilting, home decorating, gardening and cooking. She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Joe and Debbie Deskins, Tim and Donna Deskins, and Jerry Deskins, all of Shiloh; two daughters, Tami West of Shiloh, and Phyllis Evans of Shelby; one sister, Zora Inmon of Greenwich; five brothers, William Eugene "Bud" Music of Cincinnati, Ivan Music, R. Darrell Music, and Ronnie Music, all of Greenwich, Gary R. Music, of Plymouth; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles V. Deskins; five sisters, Barbara Music; twins, Dora and Dortha Music, Yvonne Slone and Billie Jean Deskins; a brother, John Edward Music; and a granddaughter, Tonia Schaeffer. She was a lunchroom cook at Betsy Layne Elementary School, a member of the Tom's Creek Freewill Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir and assistant nursery class teacher. She is survived by her husband, Arthur Deskins. He was a retired coal miner, formerly employed by the Pittson Coal Company, at Stone, and a member of the U.M.W.A. Survivors include his wife, Ruby; two sons, Arthur Jr. Deskins, and Jerry Lee Deskins, both of Stanville; one daughter, Betty Sue Combs of Hindman; three brothers, Woodyard Deskins Jr., of Man, West Virginia, Donald Thompson of Columbus, Ohio, and Bobby Ray Thompson of Betsy Layne; three sisters, Mary Lou Lawson of Detroit, Michigan, and Barbara Mulkey and Ruby Jean Lawson, both of Betsy Layne; three grandchildren, Brian Keith Combs, Shawn Matthew Deskins, and Jessica Mieko Deskins; and one great-grandchild, Brantley Chase Deskins. Age 82, a Sister of Divine Providence, entered eternal life on Friday, May 11, 2007. She was born in Pineville, Louisiana on February 23, 1925, and became a Sister of Divine Providence at 20 years of age. Sister Ida Marie taught and served as principal in various schools in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas for 36 years. She also ministered as director of social services for 26 years in Louisiana and Kentucky. While residing in David, Kentucky, she ministered at St. Vincent Mission from 1981 to 1999. She is survived by her siblings, Frank Deville Jr., and spouse, Delores; Virgie Deville Aymond; Helen Deville Knowles; Arden Deville Ehrensing and spouse, Douglas; Charles Deville and spouse, Mary Ann; Ruth Deville Wheelahan; Shirley Deville Leonard and spouse, Willie; 35 nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ida Foster Deville; her brothers-in-law, Allen Aymond, Vernon Knowles, and Richard Wheelahan; and nephew, Mark Ehrensing. Services in Isle Brevelle, Louisiana, were held Sunday, May 13, at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. A Christian wake was held at 2:30 p.m. followed by a special Sunday Mass, celebrated at 5 p.m., by Rev. Jacob Thomas, pastor. Age 81, of Marshall, Michigan died Friday, March 2, 2007 at Tendercare of Marshall. Mr. Dillon was born on April 24, 1925 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to Andy and Florence (Thornberry) Dillon. He had lived in the Marshall area the majority of his life. Jim attended the Prestonsburg High School in Kentucky. While in school, he worked as a bellboy at the Prestonsburg Inn. During World War II, Jim enlisted in the United States Navy serving from 1943 until 1947 and achieved the rank of Seaman 1st Class. He had been employed by Hayes Machine Company in Marshall for 34 years as a Machinist and Tool and Die Maker. He retired in 1987. On May 1, 1946, he married the former Ida "Emmie" Emmaline Decker at the home of their ministers, Warren and Helen Brown in Marshall. Jim was a life member of the Claude E. Hale V.F.W. Post in Marshall and had served as a past Post Commander. He and his wife attended the Marshall Church of Christ. He loved fishing, gardening, traveling and playing cards. He is survived by a son, James "Jim" (Cindy) Dillon Jr. of Marshall; daughters, Christine (Joe) Hall of Marshall, Julie (John) Ayres of Battle Creek, Michele (Hugh) Hendryx of Olivet and Karen (Douglas) Brubaker of Marshall; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren; brothers, Sam Dillon of Ohio, Jack Dillon of N.C. and Dewey "DC" Dillon of IL; sisters, Dessie Lee Preston and Doris Couch both of Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. Age 84, of Martin, Ky., passed away Thursday, March 7, 2002, at the Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg, Ky. She was born July 4, 1917, in Martin, Ky., the daughter of the late William "Bill" Dingus and Flora Reynolds Dingus. Mrs. Dingus was a retired administrator for the Floyd County School System, a physical therapist in the U.S. Army, WWII, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, director of the Genealogical Library of the Church, and a member of the Floyd County Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include one brother, Charles Phillip Dingus of Martin, Ky.; three sisters-in-law, Kitty Dingus, Rose Dingus, and Hazel Robinson, all of Martin, Ky., and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Chester Arthur Dingus, Lewis Parker Dingus, Daniel Perkins Dingus, Reynolds Dingus, and Furman Dingus; and two sisters, Rhoda Crawford and Girdell Breeding. Age age 91, of Martin, husband of Sue Ratliff Dingus, died Sunday, April 15, 2007, in Our Lady of the Way Hospital, in Martin. He was born May 6, 1915, in Martin, a son of the late William and Flora Mae Reynolds Dingus. He was a longtime educator in Floyd County, serving as both teacher and principal. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and a former president of EKEA. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Philip Arthur Dingus of Martin; two daughters: Vivian L. McGarey and Phyllis Grace Scott, both of Martin; a stepdaughter, Lynn Woo of Charleston, South Carolina; six grandchildren, three step grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and nine step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Campbell Dingus; five brothers: Furman, Perk, Lewis, Reynolds, and Arthur Dingus; and three sisters: Blanche Dingus, Girdell Breeding, and Rhoda Crawford. She was a homemaker and a member of the Martin First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Dingus. Other survivors include a daughter, Merlene Dingus of Printer; a granddaughter, Amy Martin Shepherd of Printer; and a brother, Frank Martin of Printer. Age 89, of Martin, widower of Faye Vanhoose Dingus, and the father of Charles "Crush" Dingus, died Monday, December 10, 2001, at his residence, following an extended illness. He was born December 10, 1912, in Alphoretta, Ky., a son of the late Bill and Flora Reynolds Dingus. Furman attended Pikeville College, the University of Kentucky, and taught school at Dinwood and Stephens Branch. He operated a dry cleaning business in Martin, and worked as a lineman and bookkeeper for Columbia Fuels. He was a Past Master of the John W. Hall Masonic Lodge No. 950, and was a 55-year Mason, as well as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Martin. Survivors include one son, Charles D. "Crush" Dingus of Martin; his wife, Delores; one brother, Phillip Dingus of Martin; one sister, Blanche Dingus of Martin; two grandchildren, Deanna Faye Dingus and Kris Douglas Dingus; four step-grandchildren, Michael Click, Brian Click, Mary Reynolds and Belinda Jarrell, and six step- great-grandchildren. DINGUS, Jack Grable Jr.
Age 48, of Oklahoma City, was born on December 18, 1958, the son of Jack Grable and Patricia Ann (Reed) Dingus of McDowell. His life on this earth ended Monday, February 12, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jack and Karla moved to Oklahoma in July of 1982, and were married in September, 1982. They made their home in the Mid-Del area. Jack was employed by the Joseph C. Williams Co. for 17 years. In 2000 he joined the Wal-Mart Corporation, until he became ill. Jack was active at Sooner Rose Elementary, where he served as PTA president for two years, and was "Patron of the Year" for two years. Jack loved his church, Crest Baptist, where he cooked breakfast every Sunday morning. He also taught for the children on Wednesday nights. His passion was watching his son play football for the Carl Albert Titans. Jack was preceded in death by his father, Jack G. Dingus Sr., his step-mother, Janice Griffith Dingus; step-father, Charles Frye; and uncle, James Dingus. Jack was a devoted loving husband to Karla, and a loving father to Jack III (Munchie). Survivors, in addition to his wife and son, include his mother, Patricia Ann Frye of Alabaster, Alabama; three sisters: Cheri Ousley of Lexington, Pam Howarah of Dayton, Ohio, Kim Fredrick of Alabaster, Alabama; two brothers: Kent Dingus of Prestonsburg, and Keith Dingus of Maytown; an uncle, LeMayne Dingus; and an aunt, Lisa Dingus, all of Martin; two step-grandmothers: Ann Griffith and Rose Dingus; and numerous nieces and nephews. Age 48, of Allen, husband of Mattie Sue Kennedy Donta, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2007, at the Pikeville Medical Center. He was born December 13, 1958, in Pikeville, the son of Kenneth Donta and Mary Lousie Gilliam Donta of Greenup. He was a conductor for CSX Railroad, a member of John W. Hall Masonic Lodge No. 950, in Martin, a member of the UTU Union, and believed in the Methodist faith. Survivors in addition to his wife and parents, include two sons: Zachariah James Donta of Salyersville, and Jared Wayne Branham of Virgie; a daughter, Jamila Loralee Donta of Allen; and a brother, Kenneth Donta Jr., of Winchester. Age 57, of Prestonsburg, died Sunday, August 28, 2005, at King's Daughters Medical Center, in Ashland. Born April 30, 1948 in Honaker, she was the daughter of the late Green Lawson Jr., and Readie Ward Lawson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ, in Prestonsburg. She is survived by her husband, James D. Dotson. Other survivors include a son, Ronnie Dotson of Prestonsburg; two daughters: Lisa Congleton (Chris) of Lexington, and Jamie Hatfield of Prestonsburg; a brother, Gary Lawson of Dana; and three grandchildren: Hannah Hatfield, Michael Logan Hatfield, and Carter Dotson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal Dotson; a brother, Mickey Lawson, and a sister, Glenda Akers. He was a former coal miner (Princess Elkhorn Coal Company, at David), a grocery store owner and merchant, and a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of the V.F.W., a member of the Middle Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Middle Creek Sportsmen Club, and a lifetime member of the DAV, Big Sandy Chapter No. 18. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Wright Dotson. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Lamb Dotson. Other survivors include one son, Larry D. He was a member of the Community Freewill Baptist Church in Goble-Roberts, and was a deacon and adult Sunday school teacher, former clerk of Floyd County Association of Freewill Baptists, and Kentucky State Association of Freewill Baptists and a U.S. Army World War II veteran. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Marshall Dotson. He worked for Gatke Corporation as a lathe operator for 18 and a half years, retiring in 1978. He married Mary Magdalene Hamilton Dotson on January 14, 1956. She preceded him in death on January 5, 2006. Survivors include one daughter, Drema Stockberger of Warsaw, Indiana; three sisters: Jean Rice of Prestonsburg, Laura Smith of Arkansas, and Cynthia Sue Hall of Ohio; one brother, Billy Joe Dotson of Prestonsburg; a half-sister, Mabel Honeycutt of Prestonsburg; and a half-brother, Orville Dotson of Prestonsburg. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, two sisters, one brother; two half-brothers, and three half-sisters. DUFF, Carlos Richard
On Friday, April 20, 2007, Carlos Richard Duff of Beckley, West Virginia, formerly of Bradshaw and Prestonsburg, passed away at the Veterans Area Medical Center, in Beckley, following a two-year illness. He was 60 years of age. Born on April 12, 1947, in Welch, he was one of five children born to the late Alex and Myrtle Shepherd Duff. He spent his childhood at Bradshaw, and was a graduate of Iaeger High School. In 1965, during the Vietnam Era, he entered the U.S. Army, serving in Germany; he received the National Defense Service medal and a citation for sharpshooter. After his stint in service, he began a career in the mining industry, and retired as a federal mine inspector in July of 2005. A former resident of Ashville, Ohio, he lived in Prestonsburg, for 30 years, where he was a member of the Tom Moore Memorial Baptist Church. After retiring from the federal government, Carlos and his family moved to Smith Mountain Lake at Moneta, Virginia. An avid hunter and fisherman, he opened the Blue Water Bay Guide Service. He settled in Beckley in 2006. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Steve and Philip; a sister, Serita; and his father-in-law, Eugene Church. He is the beloved husband of Nacy Church Duff, whom he married on July 21, 1970, the dear father of Westley Duff of Beckley; the fond brother of Billy Ray Duff and wife, Betty of Hillsville, Virginia; his loving extended family, the Churches, his mother-in-law, Sylvia of Iaeger; sisters-in-law, Ginny Topping of Beckley, Debra Ballard of Roanoke, Virginia, and Connie Wimmer and husband, Terry of Grundy, Virginia; brothers-in-law: Gene Church and wife, Debbie of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Michael Church and wife, Rayetta of Richlands, Virginia, and Don Church and wife, Mary Beth of Grundy Virginia; and several nephews and nieces.
