*************************************************************************Death has again visited our community taking from our midst early Monday morning (September 6, 1908) one of our most beloved ladies, Mrs. Rachel Clark Jones, whose death was incident to old age. Mrs. Rachel Clark was born in Canada, Sept. 13th, 1827. She married Wm. P. Jones in 1847. In 1864 they came to Kentucky and located in Walton where they resided all their life. They raised an excellent family of eight children, seven sons and one daughter. Five sons and one daughter survive. The children are as follows: Mrs. L. H. Wilson, Erlanger; Wm. H., J. L., F. V., A. N., R. W., and R. M. The two children dead are Wm. H. and F. V. Strange to relate all of the sons adopted the medical profession except two. Mr. Jones, her husband, died in 1873. Mrs Jones was an excellent christian lady and was an ardent member of the Presbyterian church and was loved and respected by all who knew her for her many admirable traits of character. The sympathy of the entire community is extended the bereaved ones. Mrs Jones made her home with her son Robert W. Jones who was ever devoted to his mother catering to her every wish. The funeral took place from her late residence Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Rev. W. W. Evans, of the Presbyterian church preaching a beautiful and appropriate funeral discourse, after which the remains were taken to Independence for interment in the cemetery there. A large number of relatives and friends attended the funeral in token of the love and esteem of this good lady.
