I found this photo in my grandmother's scrapbook. Her mother taught school in Florence. Although her mother isn't in the picture, it does list the names of the other teachers and the year.
My great grandmother, who apparently taught 6, 7 & 8th grades, was Mary Lydia "Mollie" Laubisch.

(Katherine) Barbara Disque Knipper Bauer Bender
was born in Germany on 7 July 1841. She came to the U.S. with
her parents in 1851. Family lore has it that she almost fell
overboard during the passage when her foot got caught in a rope on deck.
She was saved by one of the sailors. Her family ended up settling in
Boone County. She first married (John) Adam Knipper who also came
to this country from Germany and settled in Boone County. She
had 6-7 kids before Adam died before 1883. She remarried Adam
Bauer and later Anthony Bender. After the deaths of Bender and
her daughter, Lizzie, she tended house for her son-in-law, George Batchelor.
Her grandkids called her, "Grandma Bender." She
died in Lawrenceburg, IN on 7 Feb 1925 and is reportedly buried in an
unmarked grave near Lot 106 with her daughter & son-in-law, Lizzie
& George Batchelor.

George Batchelor, was born with
his twin brother, Landon, in a covered wagon on the Illinois prairie
(reportedly in what is now part of Missouri) on 25 November 1866.
[Their parents were John & Rebecca Metcalf Bachelor who married
in Boone County on 28 September 1848. They lived mostly in/near
Belleview and are reportedly buried in Belleview.] George settled
his family on the Split Rock farm outside Petersburg and that's where
he lived most of his adult life until he sold the farm & moved in
with a daughter in North Bend, OH. He was also fairly well known
for raising black and tan hound dogs and for hunting racoons.
That's where he died on 28 March 1938. He's buried with his first
wife, Lizzie, in Lot 106 of the Petersburg Cemetery 1 row east, and
in the same section as, the utility building.

Split Rock Farm -- George and Lizzie
Batchelor settled on this farm to raise their kids in 1903. I'm
not sure if they owned it or simply worked it. It was located
at Split Rock at the mouth of Wulper Creek and the Ohio River outside
of Petersburg.
