Petersburg - Homer C. SMITH, Sr.

PETERSBURG - Homer Calvin Smith Sr., 76, died Saturday (February 17, 2007) at St. Elizabeth Hospice, Covington.

He was a mechanic for Trans World Airlines at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, Hebron; a Korean War Army veteran; and member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Burlington, and Chapter 156 of the Purple Heart Association.

His wife, Hellen Louise Smith; and daughter, Jeannie Smith; died previously.

Survivors include his daughter, Carlyn Landreth; sons, Tim and Homer C. Smith Jr.; brothers, Jim Bob and Sammy Lee Smith; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron. Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery.

Memorials: Redwood School and Rehabilitation Center, 71 Orphanage Road, Fort Mitchell, KY 41017.

Homer Calvin Smith Sr., 76, of Petersburg, died at 9:17 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.

He was a retired mechanic with TWA and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and Purple Heart Association Chapter No. 156, and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. His wife, Hellen Louise Smith, died in 2006. A daughter, Jeannie Smith, died in 1989.

Survivors include a daughter, Carlyn Landreth of Shelbyville, Tenn.; sons Tim Smith of Florence and Homer C. Smith Jr. of Cincinnati; brothers Jim Bob Smith and Sammy Lee Smith, both of Shelbyville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Redwood School and Rehabilitation Center, 71 Orphanage Road, Fort Mitchell, Ky. 41017.

Ella Lorie Taylor, 81, of Florence, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a welder with American Sign Co.

Survivors include a daughter, Joanne Taylor of Erlanger; a son, Rick Taylor; sisters Lillie Turner of Springfield, Ohio, Dorothy Johnson of Cincinnati, Connie Purcell of Hamilton, Ohio, and Betty Phillips of Florence; a brother, Ronnie Vanwinkle of Erlanger; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Williamstown Cemetery.
