This is a picture of the building showing the
well house. We did not use this well because people would sometimes put dead
animals in it. Some people thought the water from the cemetery on the hill ran
into it.
This is where I attended 1st grade and 5th grade.
When the new Jackson Co. High School was built, Kerby Knob and most of the county's one
room schools were closed. For the first semester of 7th grade I attended Sand
Gap Elementery. In January 1967, the 7th and 8th graders from Sand Gap were
moved to McKee Elementary.

This is the old store buiding that was used by the
school system to house the 5-8th grades when I was in 5th grade. We had lots of
sub teachers that year. The church next door had a bank that we used as a
slide. By pouring water on the bank and using cardboard it provided great fun
during recess. Mrs. Betty Rogers lived in the back of the building and did she
make soon good chocolate no-bake oatmeal cookies.
