The Will of John Burkhart 1860 Pulaski County, Kentucky Book 5, p 533 In the name of God Amen I John Burkhart of Pulaski County Kentucky being of sound mind and disposing memory do ordain publish and declare this as my last will and testament in manner following that is 1st I resign my soul to God who gave it and my body to its mother earth to be decently buried by my Executors and friends. 2nd I devise and Bequeath to my three Daughters Elizabeth Murphy Sally Barclay & Polly Randolph one bed bedstead and furniture each. Reserving five of the choice bed covers which I devise & bequeath to my sons George and David Burkhart. The former to have the three first choice and the latter the two remaining which disposes of all my beds and bedclothing & Bed steads 3rd I devise & Bequeath to my Son George my press, Corner Cupboard falling leaf Table and Small Cherry Table and all my Cooking vessels except the Large Pot and one Kettle I devise to him also all my pails bricks and other wooden vessels about my house and kitchen together with two Choice Cows and my four horse wagon and Gearing 4th I devise and bequeath to my sons George & David Burkhart my Farm in the County of Pulaski on the waters of Flatlick Creek where I now live jointly and equally and to their heirs and assignes forever. 5th I desire the residue of my personal property not herein before disposed of to be sold by my Executors. And after all payment of my just debts and funeral expenses the balance of the proceeds of it to be equally divided among all of my children except George & David as follows Viz-
6th I do appoint my Son George Franklin Burkhart Executor of this my last will and testament with full power to settle and dispose of all my unsettled business and unsatisfied obligations if any In witness thereof I do hereto Subscribe my name and affix my seal this 6th day of August 1858.
