I am seeking information on the marriage of William Lasswell to a
Susan(n?)a(h?) Camp, possibly married in Pulaski County, Ky.
Susannah was, I think the daughter of Joseph Camp who died in
Pulaski County in 1831, and was buried in Rutherford Cty., NC. He
was married to a Sus(v?)annah Roundtree and they emigrated to Ky
from Rutherford Cty. NC
The alternate spellings of Lasswell and Camp have shown up when
looking for them.
Any information about the Camp's, Lasswell's, Roundtree's, etc in
NC, Ky, Tn, In and Va, in the 1700s and 1800s is appreciated.

Coleman Jr. is my great Uncle. My grandmother was Grace Etta
FAIR. You have all of that.
Coleman Jr's death certificate said that he died in
Somerset(Pulaski) Co in 1970 age 82 years. The person that gave
the information on the death cert was Edria Shearer of Russell
Springs Ky. Coleman Jr was buried at Whited Cem in Casey Co.
I am trying to find out who and where his children and grand
children are. My mother gave me names to two daughters, Myrtle J
who supposedly married a LUTTRELL and a Marie no mention of a
husband or children there.
I thank you very much for the information that you sent as there
is some that I did not have.
My aunt said that he was nicknamed "Dick" so perhaps the header
that I put on the query was misleading. I have corrected it
somewhat.
Thank you again

information about this line. Other members of the Farmer family
(on the church roll) were :Silah Farmer, Sarah F. Farmer, Harritt
Farmer, Joil Farmer Samul FarmerFrancis Farmer, Martha Farmer,
John Farmer, Martha Farmer, Nancy Farmer. These I believe were
relatives of hers. Francis Farmer was her niece and I was told a
movie star. They made a movie of her life, I was told, but I
don't know what the name would be and where I could locate that.
This is something else I would be interested in knowing. This
line also goes down to the CAddell line which is my maiden name.
Kenneth Caddell is my father and Sarah was his grandmother, his
mother was Grace Neilly (May be spelled incorrectly).
Thankyou for any help as I am new at all this and do not know how
to begin. The internet is right now my only resource.

From THE TYPICAL WESTERN BOY OF 50 YEARS AGO, 1833-1853, by Jesse
Portman Chesney, M.D. :
l will not close the reminiscence of this school without also
recording in its history the name of its teacher - Samuel
Combest, a black man with towering brows, snappy black eyes, and
sturdy build - and who had, as a foundation for all, a stock of
fine commonsense - accompanied by a turn for mathemetics and the
writing of a most beautiful old quille-pen hand. No "Gillott's*
No. 303", had at that time ever appeared, even in the dreams of
the most chirurgical inventor. *(Steel Pen)
...Combest taught one fall term of three months - 1839 - at this
house, and his brother-in-law, J. W° Hammond, taught the next
term - fall of 1840, at the same place; then the school house
went the way of all other like edifices in that part of the
country; it fell under the condemnation of the active incendiary;
and one night prior to the opening of the next school our
"Hancock Academy" went up in a "lurid conflagration."

PRESTON's
Posted by Julie Preston <anpreston@msn.com> on Wed, 11 Nov 1998,
in response to Morgan PRESTON, posted by Terri Schuler on Tue, 10 Nov 1998
Terri,
I'm back to a John Preston, b.abt. 1800, possibly in Pulaski Co.,
KY. He married Elizabeth/Betsy Runnels/Reynolds, whose family was also
in Pulaski Co., KY, before 1819 when some of them moved to Franklin Co.,
TN. I believe Betsy may have stayed in Pulaski Co. with one of her married
sisters' families and she might've married John Preston there, but have
found no record yet.
I have yet to establish parents for John Preston. There is only
one (1) PRESTON family listed in the 1810 Census for Pulaski Co., KY,
and they're a good possibility:
p. 145
Preston, John
2 M under 10
2 M 10-16
1 M 16-26
1 M over 45
1 F under 10
1 F over 45
I have no knowledge of John's brothers' or sisters' names, but
"Morgan" isn't a name that was used in naming John's children.
It seems to me I've seen the name Morgan Preston in the IGI,
though --- what dates (approximate) are you assuming for Morgan & Nancy and
their daughter, Rachel? It's possible they could be from this family on
the 1810 Census.
Best regards,
Julie Preston

Diana:
I have some information on some decendants of Jessie Cannon Flynn
Sr. In the information listed above you show John Flynn(5) as
married to Sarah Hunt, then his second wife as Matilda Burch
Heath. I have his second wife as Matilda Burch Silvers. They
lived around Nancy in Pulaski Co.Ky. They had four children.
Lewis M., Samual D., Luther, and John C., Can you help me here?

My grandmother was a Stephens from Wayne Co, KY. However, the
family was in Pulaski and Russell Co, KY by ca 1805.
Lorenzo Dow Stephens was a member of this family. His brother was
Alex Stephens and their father Wesley Stephens.
I have lots of information to share with Stephens researchers.

I am not familiar with your sources for this information. Could
you expand on your references? Do you have family listings with
dates and places? I connect through Samuel Dick who married Nancy
"Franky" Allin.
Because of the connection I have been abstracting some Pulaski
land data on the Dicks. The John Sr I have 1st purchased land
located near the road between Stanford and the "Flowers Ferry" on
25 Oct 1809 from Elias Kelly. He later purchased 1100 acres on
Rock Lick Creek on the land originally surveyed and entered by
Thomas Carter. He sold this land off to his children and some
others. From the dower release on these deeds, Peggy his wife
died between May 11 1816 and 27 Jan 1819.
Thanks for your help, Hi to Cheryl
