I think this might have been a quilting bee; notice the back row, they're all holding up something they've probably made? Time--guessing it's about 1918-1920 based on the appearance of my grandmother and great aunt in the back row. E.g., take a look at Hettie Hurt; she was born in 1905, and Rae Hurt was born in 1904.
