JAMES ALEXANDER ERWIN, (1854-1887)

JAMES ALEXANDER ERWIN, (1854-1887) was the son of Ezra Jessie & Sarah Catherine (Jewell) Erwin. His great grandmother Phebe (Bryan) Forbis was the sister of Rebecca (Bryan) Boone, wife of Daniel Boone. James A. married Aleatha Margaret 'Leatha' Houk on 23 March 1875 in Metcalfe Co KY. James A. died at age 33 leaving a wife and five small children, the oldest, Emmitt, only nine years old. Emmitt quit school and went to work and through his sacrifice the family was able to stay together, or so his mother would say in later years. James Alexander Erwin is buried beside his wife Aleatha, and near his mother Sarah Catherine (Jewell) Erwin Dennison, in the Hiser Cemetery near Center in Metcalfe
