The Metcalfe County Historical Society meets each 4th Monday night of the month at the Metcalfe County Library at 7:00 pm (central standard time) on the square in Edmonton. They publish a Quarterly entitled "History Speaks." Membership dues are $12.00 a year and applications for membership may be directed to Metcalfe County Historical Society, Box 910, Edmonton, KY 42129
The Metcalfe County Public Library is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday - 8:30 to 4:30; Saturday - 9:00 to 2:00. They have vertical files, microfilm readers and a copy machine.

On May 11, 2013, the members of the Metcalfe County Historical Society celebrated the first opening and preview of the work that has been done on the Metcalfe County Historic Jail in the last few months. There were tours of the jail as well as garden plants, garden art, baked goods, speakers, demonstrations and music All proceeds went the jail restoration. Pictures taken at the event are shown below.
