Joseph H. Hubbard Notes:
Ky. Genealogy and Biography, Vol. II, page 86:
"Joseph H. Hubbard was born June 23, 1846, in Green County, Ky. He is the first of five boys and four girls born to William C. and Ammanda C. (Dowell) Hubbard. William C. Hubbard was born in Bedford County, Va., came to Kentucky about 1830 with his parents and settled in Green County. His father was Joseph Hubbard, who was born and reared in Virginia; married Julia Lephridge, of that State, and was a soldier in the war of 1812. Mrs. Amanda C. Hubbard was born in Green County, Ky., and is a daughter of Harrison and Nancy (Hall) Dowell, who were born and reared in Virginia and came to Green County, Ky. about 1824. Harrison Dowell was an extensive farmer and slave owner, a soldier in the war of 1812 and was of Irish descent. Joseph H. was reared on a farm and began life for himself at the age of twenty. He married, December 19, 1867, America Jane Harris, of Barren County (now Metcalfe), a daughter of James M. and Nancy (Robinson) Harris, who were born in Virginia. James M. Harris was a son of William Harris, who was born and reared in Virginia, and came to Barren County with his parents about 1815. He was a soldier in the war of 1812. To Mr. and Mrs. Hubbard were born seven children, five living: James W., Martha F., Mary A., Joseph A. and Cynthia Cleveland. In 1860 Mr. Hubbard located where he now resides on fifty acres; now owns 108 acres, also one-fourth interest (sixty-nine acres) of his father's estate, and has acquired his property solely by his own industry; he sold 150 acres. At one time Mr. Hubbard taught singing school. He is a Mason, formerly a Granger, and was orderly of home guards during the late war. In 1870 he was elected justice, which office he had held constantly since. He is a Democrat and cast his first presidential vote for Seymour in 1808."
There is what looks like a premarital agreement between J. H. Hubbard and Addie L. Morrison. You can look at it on the Metcalfe County Message Board here.
