Searching for genealogy information on Leonard CARMICHAEL who married Fannie (Francis) POWER/POWERS, Silas POWER/POWERS who married Elizabeth SPENCER, & Jerimiah POWER/POWERS who married Leah MCCARTY. I have some dates, I just don't know how accurate they are.
Jeremiah POWER/POWERS was born around 1801, maybe in Kentucky, died around 1860, maybe in Kentucky. He married Leah MCCARTY September 11, 1823 in Bath County, Kentucky. They had nine children.
Silas POWER/POWERS was born May 21, 1828, Menifee County, Kentucky, he died May 1908. He married Elizabeth SPENCER January 8, 1850 in Morgan County, Kentucky. They had fifteen children.
Francis (Fannie) POWER/POWERS was born January 12, 1874, died around 1935 in Omaha, Nebraska. She married Leonard CARMICHAEL. I don't have any information on Leonard CARMICHAEL. They had 2 children, Orville, and Elva Mae (my Grandmother). I have information transcribed from the 1900 Census in Frenchburg, Menifee County, Kentucky, shows his first name as "L", and shows that they had four children, two living.
There is a possibility that the CARMICHAEL Family may have moved to Kentucky from either North or South Carolina.
I have found quite a few CARMICHAEL sites, but haven't found a Leonard that sounds like it is a match. Most of this information came from the POWER/POWERS side of the family. Linda Patton

I am researching the colored MYNHEIR and BUTLER family of Menifee Co. I know that my 3x grandparents were Benjamin and Francis (BUTLER) MYNHEIR. I believe than Ben was born in Bourbon, Ky in the 1840's and his wife Francis was born in the late 1850's birth place unknown. They had 2 boys and 3 girls. There daughter Emma MYNHEIR is my gggrandmother, she was born in Menifee the 1880's. Emma had 3 daughter Madge, Pearl and Maggie all of which was fathered by a white man in Menifee Co. He gave my gggrandmother land in Mt Sterling to raise the girls.Madge died at age 2. Emma married Robert FOX 1910 and had 5 more children before her death in 1924 from cancer. Maggie is my ggrandmother married Garnett JACKSON and had 2 boys Garnett and John who is my grandfather.

I am a BOWLING descendent and came across your web site through us gen web and saw a picture of my uncle Roy ROTHWELL in the volunteer photo of the WWI volunteers. I have a picture I can send you of my grandfather BOWLING if you would like a copy. He was a doctor in Menifee County for over 50 years and died in 1939. I am sure there will be people who will know him. My other grandfather was Joe ALEXANDER and my grandmother , Joe's wife was Ida RAYBURN or RAEBORN it was sometimes spelled. I can also send you one of them. If anyone lived in Menifee County up to the 40's they will know both of them, Dr. BOWLING as well as my other granddad Joe "Alec" as he was sometimes called.. I was so thrilled to find the site and to see my uncle Roy on there. I do have a question though. My father was Laben BOWLING, Dr. BOWLINGs son. He disappeared in 1945 or there abouts while living in Ohio. He was last in Menifee in 1939 before grandad died in August of 1939. No one has seen him since in that area. I have not one photo of my father and no other relative does either. Beatrice Bowling Zienkosky

I am attempting to establish a family tie from Samuel J. SPENCER, born circa 1856 in Penna., died 1921 in Rowan County and the Asa SPENCER family in Menifee County. Asa SPENCER, son of James Knox Polk SPENCER and Elizabeth BALLARD was born in Kentucky in 1888 and died in Menifee County on 9 July, 1972. He married Ettie CLEM and they were the parents of Callie Bird, Thelma, Boyd and J. K. SPENCER. There are similarities in names between the Rowan County SPENCERs and those in Menifee County. Samuel J. SPENCER had two sons, Verner SPENCER and Norman Stuart SPENCER. They would have been very near Asa SPENCER's age. I would appreciate any
information on a possible tie, especially between Verner and Asa SPENCER. J. R. Spencer
I am trying to research my family history. Looking for my great grandfather Jeff HARDY born in 1876 died 1940; wife was Della KINNEY born in 1889 died in 1943 (I don’t have dates of birth or death only years.). My grandpa’s name was Dorse D HARDY born in 1905 and died 2001 at the age of 96 and he married Mary SKEENS. He has two sisters that are still living and their names are Mousilena and Norsilee. They lived on Tar Ridge in Menifee County and moved out of Menifee some time in the late 30’s. I cannot seem to find any records on any of them. If anyone would have any information on my great grandfather or anything about my family, I would appreciate it very much if you let me know. Thanks, Rachel Ragan
I have several ties to Menifee Co. KY. would love to see it some day. My Grandmother Ida Bell OSBORN[e] born dec 1885 daughter of William and Elizabeth TYREE OSBORN listed on the 1880 Menifee. William's mother/sisters and brothers were on the 1870-1900 Menifee. William and Elizabeth married in 1870 Estill Co. KY. William's Mother was Maranda WIREMAN OSBORN. [1870-1900] she was the mother in law of William Christopher TAYLOR,{Judge}. Many stories of my GGF. William, I bet Menifee courthouse would be filled of them. He was more an outlaw than inlaw like his brother-in-law the judge.
Elizabeth Tyree OSBORN had two sisters that went to Menifee also.
one was . Ruth Ellen TYREE and her husband judge/lawyer Thomas T. COPE, they are on the 1880 Menifee. They went to Breathtt Co. as my Great Grandmother Elizabeth and her second husband John O'RILEY with my Grandmother Ida, her brothers Carl OSBORN and Ben / Frank OSBORN. Her other two brothers were James and Oscar OSBORN. Would like to know more on her brothers.
Sister Nancy "Nanny" TYREE or listed as TYRA on the 1880 Menifee. She married Doctor Elmer NORTHCUTT had three children as far as i can see: Ettie NORTHCUTT married Frank CHASE,listed living in Madison Co. KY 1920, Nancy Tyree NORTHCUTT was divorced / living with her daughter. The CHASE family went to CA in 1930. Sons of Dr. Elmer and Nancy NORTHCUTT were Ernest E. NORTHCUTT born 1883 was in Estill Co. KY 1930 with his wife /children.
Edgar W. NORTHCUTT born 1887 living in Covington, Kenton, Kentucky, he too was a doctor. 1920 Dr. Elmer NORTHCUTT was in Fayette Co. KY divorced from Nancy. In 1930 he was in Lexington, Fayette Co. married to Eudosia, she was much young than him.
I wonder why Nancy and Dr. Elmer divorced. I have letter from a sweet lady dated 1995 Breathitt Co. KY that knew my Great Grandmother Elizabeth TYREE OSBORN O'RILEY - she told me Nancy was able to read tea leaves and other readings.. I could not help wondering if this did not go well with the doctor?? Many Thanks, Patty Cartwright
