SLAVEN, ANDREW C. - was born in Scott County, Tenn., September 2,
1915. Deceased this life in Scott County, Tenn., July 16, 1974,
at the age of 58 years, 10 months and 14 days. He was the son of
the late ED SLAVEN and the late SALLY
THOMAS SLAVEN. Survivors: wife, LOLA BOYATT SLAVEN of Oneida, six
daughters: JO WARD of Brush Creek, Tenn., ANNA LOU SLAVEN of
Nashville, Tenn., VEDA WATSON, HELEN NEAL, and KATHERYN COLLINS
all of Oneida, Tenn., BEATRICE WHITEHEAD of Attica, Indiana,
three sons: KENNETH SLAVEN of Veedersburg, Indiana, LONNIE SLAVEN
and CLETUS SLAVEN both of Oneida, Tenn., sister, NANCY SLAVEN of
Oneida, brother, JAMES SLAVEN of Oneida. He also leaves 27
grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

DEWEY STRUNK
DEWEY STRUNK, 55 years of age, merchant
and former coal miner, died Monday, January 30, at his home in
Revelo from a heart condition. He was born and reared in McCreary
County, the son of the late William Strunk and Rachel Strunk. He
was a member of the Lower Hickory Grove Church and Orie S. Ware
Lodge, Stearns.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at
First Hickory Grove Church with the Rev. Milford Vahle and the
Rev. Carmel Stanley of Winfield, Tenn., officiating. Burial was
in the Lower Hickory Grove Cemetery with Orie S. ware Lodge
members administering the last rites in the graveside service.
Mr. Strunk is survived by his mother,
Mrs. Rachel Strunk, Revelo, two sisters, Mrs. Hurstle Cordell of
Cincinnati, and brothers, Ernest, Cart, Elmer and Willie of
Revelo, and General of Crab Orchard, Ky.

Joe Strunk
Joe Strunk, 71, Whitley City, Ky., died Thursday, Aug. 17, at
Scott County Hospital. He had been ill for several weeks. The
deceased was born at Indian Head, KY. January 22, 1896. He was
the son of James and Sally Bryant Strunk. He was a life resident
of the county and followed coal mining as a means to support a
large family of children. He was a friendly man and widely known
in the county. Mr. Strunk is survived by eight children,
daughters, Bonnie Strunk, Danville, Ky; Mrs. Magaline Walker,
Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Virginia Threet, Whitley City, Ky.; Mrs Betty
Bryant Lexington, Ky.; and sons, Willie Strunk and Mack Strunk,
Whitley City, Ky.; Elisha W. Strunk, Yorkshire, Ohio; and Kenneth
Strunk, Lexington, Ky. He is also survived by two brothers, Lewis
and Willie Strunk, Sidney, Ohio and a sister Mrs. Ollie Morrow,
Tiffin, Ohio. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday
with Rev. T. J. Watters officiating. Burial was in Hickman
Cemetery.

J. T. STRUNK
J. T. STRUNK , who was shot and killed by
his father-in-law in Amelia, Ohio on September 11th was returned
to Hickman Funeral Home on Friday. Funeral Services were held
from the Marshes Siding Church of God on Saturday with the Rev.
Arthur Richmond of Corbin in charge. Burial was in the
Higganbotham Cemetery near Honey Bee.
He is survived by his parents,
Smith and Gladys L. Strunk, brothers and sisters, Mrs. Glenn
Strunk, Marshes Siding, Mrs. Willard Strunk, Cincinnati, Faye,
Gene and Chester Strunk, Marshes Siding.
