OBIE WINCHESTER
OBIE WINCHESTER, 70, disabled coal
miner, died Monday, November 4, at the Stephens Rest Home in Pine
Knot, terminating a prolonged illness.
Mr. Winchester was born April 22,
1893, in Wayne County, the son of John Riley Winchester and Eliza
Ann Troxell, both deceased.
He was a coal miner and worked at
Stearns Coal and Lumber Company's White Oak Junction and
Cooperative Mines until ill health forced his retirement. He was
a member of the White Oak Junction Baptist Church.
Surviving are; two daughters, Mrs.
Endia Bowden, Muncie, Ind.; Mrs. Flora Gregory, Pine Knot; four
sons, Bill, Daniel, Hubert and Jackie Winchester, all of Oxford,
Ind.; three brothers, Bill Winchester, Hill Top; Joe Winchester,
Muncie, Ind.; Fred Winchester, Oxford, Ind.; and two sisters,
Mrs. Mary Harles and Mrs. Maude Cook, both of Muncie, Ind.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, November 6, at 1 p.m. in the White Oak Junction
Baptist Church with Rev. Stanley Davis and Rev. Arnold Stephens
officiating. Burial was in the Sherd Dobbs Cemetery.
