JOSEPH MARION (JOE) WATTERS

      JOSEPH MARION (JOE) WATTERS, 81, retired coal miner, and a resident of Whitley City, died Thursday, April 21, in Scott County Hospital.
      Mr. Watters was born June 12, 1884, in Whitley County. He was a son of the late Henry Watters and Jane Hayes Watters. He was a life-long resident of McCreary County, a member of the Hayes Creek Church of God and a well-known and respected citizen of his community.
      Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nevada Watters, Whitley City; two sons, Rev. Leslie Watters and Butler Watters, Whitley City; four daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Vangorn, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Clara Mason, Stearns; Mrs. Mary Powell, Omaha, Tex.; Mrs. Sue Hoff, Columbia, S.C.; three brothers, John, Jeff and George Watters, all living in Whitley City, and a sister, Mrs. Sue Patrick, living in Oklahoma.
      Funeral services were held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Whitley City Church of God with Rev. Ledford Perry of Creekmore and Rev. T. J. Watters, Whitley City, in charge. Burial was in the Laurel Cemetery.
      Grandsons were active pall bearers.
