PETE WATERS, 79, beloved husband
of Elizabeth Troxell Waters for 58 years, died at his home Sept
13, following a long illness. He lived on Route 2, Strunk, Ky.
The deceased was born September 8,
1887, son of the late Mose Waters and Lineley (LINDEY) Winchester
Waters. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Troxell, October
8, 1908 and to this union eleven children were born, eight
survive and three are deceased.
Mr. Waters was a devoted
companion, a kind and loving father and grandfather and a
wonderful friend to everyone. He was a member and a deacon of the
Ross Grove Baptist Church. He was faithful to his church.
Mr. Ross was a retired coal miner. Survivors are his widow,
Elizabeth Troxell Waters, five daughters, Mrs. Flossie Spradlin,
Miss Martha Waters, Mrs. Alpha Gregory and Mrs. Retha Vaughn, all
living at Strunk, And Mrs. Zora Whitehead, Stearns, Ky.; three
sons, Harlen Waters, Strunk, Ky.; Pat and Huger Waters, Muncie,
Ind. One son Millard, 48 was killed in a mine accident in 1960.
Also two infant daughters are deceased.
Mr. Waters had 50 grandchildren
and 38 great-grandchildren. The funeral service was held at 10
a.m., September 16,, at Ross Grove Church with Rev. Sid Taylor
officiating. Burial was in the Waters cemetery. Pall bearers were
his grandsons, Everett and Leon Waters, Donald and Rondal Gregory
and Joe and Jack Whitehead.
