Leuverna Waters
Leuverna Waters, 73, Whitley City, died March 3, 1973 in Scott
County Hospital, Oneida, Tenn., terminating an illness of more
than three years. Her husband, Tapley Waters, preceded her in
death./ She was born Feb. 28, 1899, in Clay County and was
a daughter of Wash Watson and Elizabeth Troxell Watson, both
deceased. A lifelong resident of McCreary County, she was a
housewife and a member of the Upper Creek Baptist Church./
Surviving are two children, Robert Mays of Louisville and Mrs.
Retha Powell of Whitley City; one sister, Mrs. Polly Griffith of
Whitley City; three grandchildren and two great
grandchildren./ Rev. Leroy Terry and Rev. Ernest Perry
conducted funeral services March 5 at the Strunk Ridge Baptist
Church. Burial was in the Higganbotham Cemetery. McCreary County
Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements./ Pallbearers
were Harry Smith, Gene Singleton, Cody Waters, James King,
Phillip Wells, and Ross Howard.
