Leuverna Waters
, 73, Whitley City, died March 3, 1973 in Scott County Hospital, Oneida, Tenn., terminating an illness of more than three years. Her husband, Tapley Waters, preceded her in death./  She was born Feb. 28, 1899, in Clay County and was a daughter of Wash Watson and Elizabeth Troxell Watson, both deceased. A lifelong resident of McCreary County, she was a housewife and a member of the Upper Creek Baptist Church./  Surviving are two children, Robert Mays of Louisville and Mrs. Retha Powell of Whitley City; one sister, Mrs. Polly Griffith of Whitley City; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren./  Rev. Leroy Terry and Rev. Ernest Perry conducted funeral services March 5 at the Strunk Ridge Baptist Church. Burial was in the Higganbotham Cemetery. McCreary County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements./  Pallbearers were Harry Smith, Gene Singleton, Cody Waters, James King, Phillip Wells, and Ross Howard.
