John Sidney Waters, 78, of Rt. 1, Monticello, died Sept/ 15, at Lake Cumberland Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. at McCreary County Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ross Dobbs officiating. Burial was in Pine Knot Cemetery./  He was born March 7, 1900, at Worley, was a retired UMWA coal miner and a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Mose and Melinda Waters./  He is survived by his wife Alta Mae Waters of Monticello; 10 children, Ella Mae Hill, Fayrene Hill, Shirley Frye, Wayne Waters, of Muncie, Ind., Kenneth and Chester Waters of Cincinnati, Janice Grundy of Whitley City, Mary Lou Gibson, Paul and Gary Waters of Monticello; 18 grandchildren; and a brother, Henley Waters of Whitley City. Preceding him in death were 14 brothers and sisters./  McCreary County Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
