Alta Mae Waters, 62, Muncie, Ind., formerly of Rt. 1 Monticello,
died Oct. 7, at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, after a lingering
illness. funeral services were conducted October 10 at McCreary
County Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. with Rev. Simon Waters and
Rev. Sylvester Dobbs officiating. Burial was in Pine Knot
Cemetery./ She was born August 30, 1917, in Parmleysville,
Ky., to Ada Gregory and the late Willie Gregory. She lived
most of her life in McCreary County, was a housewife and member
of New Haven Baptist Church, Do-op. Her husband, John Sidney
Waters, and her father preceded her in death./ Survivors
include her mother, Ada Gregory, Monticello; children, Kenneth
Waters and Chester Waters, both of Cincinnati, Paul Waters and
Ella Mae Hill, both of Muncie, Ind., Janice Grundy, Whitley City,
Fayrene Hill, Selmon, Ind., Shirley Frye, Mondan, N.D., and Mary
Lou Gibson, Monticello; five brothers, Edward Gregory and Clyde
Gregory, both of Muncie, Ind., William Gregory and Dillard
Gregory, both of Cincinnati, and Clifford Gregory, Hill Top; four
sisters, Lela Gregory, Cincinnati, Edna Maples, Monticello, Marie
Matthews, Hill Top, and Ruby Phipps, Muncie, Ind., and 19
grandchildren./ McCreary County Funeral Home was in charge
of arrangements.
