Mrs. Eva Jane Cooper, 69, Pine Knot, died November 25, at Scott
County Hospital in Tennessee. Her husband, Shird Cooper, preceded
her in death./ The daughter of the late Mose Watters and
Melinda Winchester Watters, she was born in McCreary County on
August 8, 1904. She was a life-long resident of the county, a
housewife and a member of the Church of God./ Surviving are
five sons, Castle Cooper of Muncie, Ind., Buddy Cooper, Delbert
Cooper, Thurman Cooper and J.B. Cooper, all of Pine Knot; three
daughters, Mrs. Ruby Kelly of Pine Knot, Mrs. Vennie Watson of
Oneida, Tenn., and Mrs. Mary Jo Slaven of Jamestown, Tenn.; two
step-children, Mrs. Ninnie Pennington of Oneida, Tenn., and
Willie Cooper of Jamestown, Tenn.; two brothers, Sidney Watters
of Monticello and Henley Watters of Whitley City; 70
grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren./ The Rev. Rudolph
Couch conducted funeral services November 28 at South Pine Knot
Church of God with burial in Pine Knot Cemetery./ Serving
as pallbearers were J.B. Bilbrey, John Pyle, Coy Taylor, Phillip
Kidd and Bobby Wilson./ Hickman Funeral Home was in charge
of arrangements.
