James Stephenson "Jim" Whitlock
GEORGETOWN - James (Jim) Stephenson Whitlock, 80, husband of Catherine Williams
Nutter Whitlock, died Sat., Sept. 18, 2004 at the Georgetown Community Hospital.
He was born in Madison County on April 18, 1924 and was the son of the late
James V. and Lucille Mink Whitlock. He was a retired Captain with the Lexington
Fire Department; member of the Newtown Christian Church; Man O' War Post #8 of
the American Legion, Lexington; Thoroughbred Post of the V.F.W., Georgetown; and
the Lake Eilersile #4 Fishing Club. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S.
Marine Corp. Survivors in addition to his wife include aunts Mary Mink Ledford,
Richmond, and Katherine Whitlock, Lexington; step-son James T. Nutter, Marion
Co.; step-grandson James Barlow Nutter also of Marion Co. He is also survived by
a number of cousins. He was preceded in death by a son, James Stephenson
Whitlock Jr. Funeral services will be 11 am Wed., Sept. 22, 2004 at the Newtown
Christian Church with Rev. Bob Franz officiating. Burial will be at Versailles
Cemetery. Casket Bearers: John T. Nutter Jr., James Barlow Nutter, Lester
Sergent, L.D. Parks, Michael Fulton and Halcolm Marshall. Honorary Bearers: Joe
Lush, Bobby Treadway, Calvin Rutledge, Ed Wilson and Joe Lusby. Visitation will
be Tues., 6 - 8 pm at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made
to the Newtown Christian Church Building Fund.
