Ruth
Jones Lake age 91 of Hwy 25 in Berea, passed away Tuesday, June 01, 2004
at the Annville Nursing Home.
Ruth was
born in Morristown, Tennessee to the late Fred and Elizabeth Courtney
Jones. Her family came Morristown to Climax, Kentucky when Ruth was two
years old by covered wagon. She was a food service manager for EKU,
Berea Hospital, Holiday Inn, Spindel Top Hall and Boone Tavern. While
she was employed with Boone Tavern under the direction of Richard Hougan
she created the original Spoonbread recipe. She was also a member of the
First Baptist Church in East Bernstadt.
She is
survived by one granddaughter Paula Felty and her husband Kenneth of
East Bernstadt; one great grandson Paul Felty; and one sister Stella
Abrams and her husband Ted of Dayton, OH.
In
addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ronald
Lake, one son Paul Edward Lake and 13 brothers and sisters.
Funeral
services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Lakes Funeral Home in Berea with
Rev. Kenneth Felty and Rev. David Hawkins officiating. Burial will
follow in the Berea Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6:00 p.m.
Wednesday at the funeral home.
