Walker "Jelly Bean" James Jennings, 82, of Richmond, fought a good battle, but God decided to take another soldier on home. Born June 22, 1922, to the late Bill and Maggie Willis Jennings, he departed this life at 7:10 p.m., Saturday, October 2, 2004, in the Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center.

Walker was a retired farmer, laundry worker at Madison Dry Cleaners, landscaper, and a Deacon at the Richmond Predestinarian Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lucille Catherine Chenault Jennings, three sisters and five brothers. He leaves, to cherish his memory, a loving daughter, Carolyn A. (Leonard) Jennings of Richmond; a loving son, Larry W. (Myrtle) Jennings of Richmond; three loving grandchildren, Ma-Dasha J. Duerson, Taryn L. Jennings, and Aaron Ferrell, all of Richmond; a loving sister, Rosie (Sam) Gee of Cincinnati, Ohio; a loving brother, David Jennings, of Minneapolis, Minn.; two brothers-in-law, Rev. David (Dorothy) Chenault of Danville and Walter R. Chenault of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Louise Jennings of Richmond and Elizabeth Chenault of Detroit, Mich.; a very special niece, Louise Turner of Richmond; three very special cousins, Honorable Judge William "Bill" Jennings, Robert (Helen) Jennings and Harold Jennings, all of Richmond; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Walker "Jelly Bean" Jennings will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Richmond Predestinarian Baptist Church, with Rev. Raymond Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home.
