Myrtle
Elizabeth Harris age 96 passed away Feb. 26, 2004 at the Berea Health
Care Center where she had been a resident for over 6 years. Myrtle was
the second oldest of eleven children born to Harry and Juanita
Hazelwood. She was the widow of Burt Harris, and leaves to morn her
passing her two Children. Janice (Bill) Malicote of Lexington and Jimmy
(Brenda) Harris of Berea. Four grandchildren also survive Jeff (Pam)
Malicote and Julie (Jerry) Smith both of Lexington; James Douglas (Amy)
Harris and Ashleigh Harris both of Berea. She was also proud of her four
young great-grandchildren, Will and David Malicote, Reagan and Rileigh
Smith all of Lexington. She also leaves to morn her passing a dear
friend and care giver Barbara Neeley. Myrtle was preceded in death by
her parents, four brothers, three sisters as well as her husband.
Myrtle was
retired from Berea College, and she was one of the oldest members of the
Silver Creek Baptist Church and loved her church family where she was a
member of the Naomi Sunday School Class.
Visitation
will be Sunday Feb. 29, 2004 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Lakes Funeral
Home. Funeral services will be Monday March 1, 2004 at the Silver Creek
Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Bruce Rendleman will officiate
services. Casketbearers will Jeff Malicote, James Douglas Harris, Jerry
Smith, David Withers, Billy Linville, Gary Miracle and Ron Blevins.
Honorary bearers will be members of the Naomi Sunday school Class, Staff
and loving care givers from the Berea Health Center. Memorials may be
made to the Silver Creek Baptist Church Building Fund.
