"Dink" Gabbard Sr., 84, of Shaker Road in Franklin, died Friday, May 21, 2004, at Middletown Regional Hospital.
He was born in Berea, [Madison County], Ky., on Aug. 11, 1919, the son of Logan and Eva (Moore) Gabbard.
He was a veteran of World War II and Korean conflict, serving as a criminal investigator. After leaving the military, he served as a Montgomery County investigator and was employed by Armrel Byrnes Construction from 1955 to 1983, serving as vice president at his retirement.
He was a 60-year member of Russell McElfresh Post 149 of the American Legion, Miami Valley VFW Post 3809 of Middletown, and served as Memorial Day Parade Grand Marshal in Franklin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Alma, on May 3, 1982, and two brothers, Raymond and Logan Joseph Gabbard.
Surviving are one son, Harry C. Gabbard Jr. and wife Robin of Franklin; one daughter, Faye Capozzi of Middletown; one granddaughter, Kimberly Morris and husband Ron of Springboro; and one brother Ralph Gabbard of Atlanta, Ga.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Anderson Funeral Home, 1357 E. 2nd St., Franklin. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Springboro Cemetery will full military honors.
