Charles Bascom Patrick

I received some information from a cousin in Missouri about her grandfather, my Dad's uncle, Charles Bascom Patrick. This info was written by Charles himself. He says that he was born in Madison County, KY, Dec. 28, 1881 to William Dudley Patrick and Laura Powell Patrick. His siblings were:  Ellen (Mary Ellen), John Will (John William, this is my grandfather), Jim Hardin (James Harding), Alice (Margaret Alice), Alby, Thomas T. (Thomas Thacker) and a baby girl, Julie Ann (Julia Ann) who died in infancy.

He goes on to say that his mother died when he was 5 years old. I believe he was off a year on this. I believe he was actually 6. He also says that 3 years after his mother died, his father married a Betty Bruce and that Betty and William had two children together, Walter and Anna May Patrick.

If the death date I have for Laura is correct, she died Marc 1, 1888 and William married Bettie Bruce, Oct 4, 1891 in Madison County. According to census for 1900, Bettie still had two children by a previous marriage, Emma age 12 and Gilbert age 10.

I have never been able to find out who Bettie's previous husband was or how many other children she had by him. The 1900 census gives William's age as 54 and Bettie's (Elizabeth) as 44. The census also says that Walter is 7 and Annie is 3.

William died March 20, 1904. I have no idea when Bettie died or if she remarried.
