Sold inherited Va land in 1843 to someone from Jefferson Co, Ky and is listed as living in Hickman county. Child 2 was born in Ky in 1845 so they were in Ky for several years before moving up river to Wheeling (W)Va by the 1850 census. Is there anywhere in Hickman County that would have records of births, property /personal property taxes, etc. I would imagine that they lived on the river somewhere, as Commerce and Wheeling both are. Their son, Elias MITCHELL, b. 1837, Kentucky, d. August 1905, Lyon KY, is buried in Liberty Cemetery, Lyon County. Elias MITCHELL had two wives, Margaret ADAMS and Frances STEVENS. My great grandmother, Effie Adele MITCHELL, b. about 1870 in Kentucky was the daughter of Elias MITCHELL and Frances STEPHENS as were Luther B. Mitchell and Vallie Mae Mitchell and another child. I am descend. of Samuel HEROD, he eventually moved to Caldwell County., KY. His brother John stayed in Lyon Co. and changed spelling of his name to HEAROD. John married Josephine WARD. Anyone researching this family PLEASE e-mail me. It took me 20 years to connect Wright to Samuel. I hope not another 20 to find Wright's parents. Wright came with his family from Cannon County TN between 1860-1870 per census records.

I am looking for information on the GOODWIN and MOORE families. Otis Wilson Moore was born in 1914 near Farmersville in Caldwell Co. He married Sarah WINTERS from Lyon Co. His father was Walter and his mother was Leafa Goodwin. Leafa's father died and her mother Sally Deboe married Walter's brother Sam Moore. I am trying to find what Leafa's father's first name was and when he was born and when he died. Also I am trying to find out who Walter Moore's parents were. Also who were Sally Deboe's parents. Sally is buried in Farmersville. Leafa and Walter are too, but in unmarked graves. Does anyone know if there is a way to find out exactly where they are buried. I know within a few feet because my grandmother remembers the funerals. Leafa was born Feb. 14, 1896 and died Feb 10, 1942. Walter was born Jan. 31, 1876 and died April 30, 1942. DAVIS (b. 1828) and Eliza Anne MOORE. James C. DAVIS was the son of Elizabeth DAVIS. He had brothers John, Francis M. and several sisters including Altazora. The family was originally from Caldwell Co., later went to Lyon, then on to Livingston. James C. and family relocated to Stoddard County, MO in late 1870's. His mother Elizabeth went with them. James C. was a blacksmith. Any info will be greatly appreciated.
