Located in Lola, KY
This mine is out of use now and there is a big cement slab over the base.
It is about 600 ft deep. It was last used in the 1940's.
It was owned by William "Bill" Wright, who was married to Mary Jane Buchannan.
Bill Wright died in 1841 in Livingston Co KY.
This mine was passed to his son Francis, then down his line. I am sure the tower
was re-built many times. In the 1930's and 1940's spar was a major export of
this community and employeed alot of the men from the community.
Spar also known as floraspar, is used in making glass among other things.
