Wilmington Star-News, Wilmington, NC 2 Sep 2005 Ora Mae Brown BOILING SPRING LAKES , Mrs. Ora Mae Brown, 83, of Wimberly Lane, died Thursday, September 1, 2005, in New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Born in Hyden, Kentucky, on November 1, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Joe and Hannah Bowling Lewis. She was retired from the Block Shirt Factory after 40 years of service. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Grover C. Brown; three sons, Angelo Brown, David Brown and Stephen Brown and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include a son, Tommy Brown and wife Libby of Bolivia; three daughters, Hazel Odom and husband Buddy of Leland, Sandra Powell and Tim of Winnabow, Shelley Cooper of Bolivia; two brothers, Fred Lewis of Bolivia, Toby Lewis of Longwood; two sisters, Ruth Johnson of Burgaw, NC, Evelyn Wescott of Boiling Spring Lakes and sixty-nine grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2005, in the chapel of Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service & Crematory, Supply Chapel, with Reverend Bill Altman, Reverend Charles West and Reverend Merle Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the Bowling Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home and at other times from the home of Hazel Odom at 127 Hickory Drive, Leland, NC 28451. Throughout her lifetime she had made many friends who loved and will miss her deeply. The family of Mrs. Brown would like to thank the nurses on the 5th floor of New Hanover Regional Medical Center for the excellent care given to their mother.
