The Spokesman-Review, Spokane, WA 16 Feb 2006 Donald Chester Brock Donald Chester Brock passed away peacefully at his home on February 12, 2006. Born on August 31, 1925 in Hyden, KY, he served in the Marines in the Philippines during WWII. He married Joy Crowell on November 21, 1951. He worked at Kinzua Lumber in Kinzua, OR, and Diamond International Lumber in Oldtown, ID, which became DAW Forest Products, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the VFW and DAV in Priest River, ID. Don left a love and legacy of music. He was a master craftsman on guitar, steel guitar, banjo, and mandolin. He learned bass guitar so he could teach a friend. He inspired many, including his children and grandchildren; truly he was the leader of the band. Don is survived by his wife, Joy, at the home; his son, Donald A Brock (Cindy) of Priest River, ID; his daughters, Darla Mason (Larry) of Newport, WA, and Melody Podlas (Rick) of Mead; his sisters, Betty Begley and Jo Roberts of Hyden KY; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many good friends. Services will be held Saturday, February 18, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Priest River, ID, with interment following at Evergreen Cemetery. submitted by Misty H Smith
