Eugene Carter Asher, 80, of Cassidy Road, London, Ky., died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, at V.A. Medical Center in Lexington, Ky.
The son of the late John H. and Rose Hoskins Asher, he was born July 18, 1927 in Leslie County, Kentucky. He was affiliated with the Baptist faith, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a sawmill operator by profession.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Wanda Bowling Asher, his daughter Eugenia Carol Asher, and his brother Carlo Britton Asher. He is survived by his children Serena Nolan, of Hyden, Ky., Robert Asher, of London, Asonia Rose Sizemore, of Hyden, Johnny Asher, of London, Carlo Asher, of Hyden, Jeffrey Carter Asher, of Vero Beach, Fla., Kim Asher Beekman, of St. Cloud, Fla., and Telechia Asher, of Hazard, Ky.; his sister Carolyn Asher Fromuth, of San Antonio, Texas; his brothers Robert ?Bob? Asher, of Idaho, and Johnny Asher, of London; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, at London Funeral Home?s chapel, with Marion Parkey officiating. Burial followed at Locust Grove Cemetery in Keavy, Ky.
Military rites administered by local D.A.V.
Donnie Collins, Kevin Maggard, D.A.V. chapter No. 66 and D.A.V. chapter No. 158 in Keavy served as pallbearers.
