Francis T. Chambers of Mason County, KY sets free his "mulatto man
slave named Cassius Triplett, aged about 49 or 50 years."
Emancipation of William Ball
Recorded in Book 50 at page 61 of the deed records of
Mason County, KY
July 12, 1841
"...I, Everett Stillwell of Mason County, Kentucky, do by these
presents emancipate and set free my negro man slave named William
Ball...Said slave, William Ball, is about 27 years of age, five feet
eight inches high, yellow complexion."
Emancipation of Lewis Coffee
Filed in Book 52 at pages 371/372 of the deed records
of Mason County, Kentucky
June 12, 1843
Rebecca Drake, widow of Jacob Drake, deceased, and Miles C. Drake,
for himself and as executor of William H. Drake, deceased, and
Milton Dougherty and Susan C. Dougherty, his wife, and George Riley
and Elizabeth Riley, his wife, and Cornelius Drake, heirs at law of
Jacob Drake, in consideration of the faithful service of Lewis
Coffee, a negro slave, once the property of Jacob Drake and who was
assigned to Rebecca Drake as dower in the slaves of her husband, do
hereby emancipate Lewis from further bondage as a slave and grant
him with as full liberty as he is capable of enjoying, and we hereby
release and discharge him from any further obligations of service to
us.
Lewis is described in open court in the town of Washington as 5 feet
10 inches high, yellow complexion and aged 30 or 40 years.
Release of Edmund
Filed in Book 55 at page 249 of the deed records of
Mason County, KY
July 21, 1846
John M. Morton of Mason County, KY, releases all right, title and
interest he had to "Edmund", a man of colour, aged about 49 years
old, formerly the slave of said John M. Morton, and relinquishes any
right to services from Edmund
Emancipation of Alvin Green
Filed in Book 55 at page 407 of the deed records of
Mason County, KY
December 14, 1846
I, Thomas Parry of Mason County, KY, do hereby emancipate and set
free my negro man, Alvin Green, who is 5 feet 9 inches high, about
40 years of age and of dark complexion.
Emancipation of Alexander Gerard
Book 54, Pages 158 & 159 of the Deed Records of Mason
County, KY
"I emancipate my slave, Alexander Gerard, a black man, stout and
well made, about six feet high, aged thirty-six years. Given under
my hand and seal January 15, 1845. D. Morris"
"State of Kentucky Mason County
Deed of emancipation from David Morris to Alexander Gerard was
produced in open court and acknowledged by the said David Morris to
be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned. And the same
as ordered to be recorded. The said Alexander Gerard being in open
court is five feet eleven and one fourth inches high and of dark
complexion. Whereupon the said David Morris executed and
acknowledged in open court a bond for the support of said negro with
Warner Wilson as his security in the penalty of five hundred
dollars.

Emancipation of "Haskin"

Mason County, KY
June 8, 1846
I, Peter S. Anderson, of Mason County, KY, "emancipate and set free
my negro man named Haskin, now about 60 years old, six feet high and
of black complexion."
Record notes that Haskin is "lame and ruptured."
Emancipation of Henry by George S. Savage
Filed in Bood 54 at page 353 of the deed records of
Mason County, KY:
August 11, 1845
Deed of emancipation of “Henry” from George S. Savage of Mason
County, KY:
"emancipate and forever set free from servitude my negro man slave,
late the property of William McDonald, decd., named Henry, about 49
years old of black color and five feet, five inches high."
Bond with Washington Prather, Thomas Small and William Watson for
$500.
Emancipation of Henry Hedgmen
Filed in Book 54 at page 235 of the deed records of
Mason County, KY
Know all men by these presents that I, Marshall Key, of the town of
Washington, County of Mason and State of Kentucky do, by these
presents, emancipate and set free from slavery my negro man slave,
Henry Hedgman, aged between sixty and seventy years. He is a dark
mulatto five feet seven inches high. In witness whereof I have
hereunto set my hand and seal this 14th day of April 1845.

The following recorded August 28, 1845:
Mason County, KY April Court, 1845
Deed of Emancipation from Marshall Key to Henry Hedgman was produced
in open court by the said Key to be his act and deed for the
purposes therein mentioned, and the same is ordered to be recorded,
and the said Henry Hedgman being in open court is five feet seven
inches high between sixty and seventy years of age and dark
complexion. Whereupon the said Marshall Key executed and
acknowledged in open court a bond for the support of said Hedgman
with Harrison Taylor as his security in the penalty of five hundred
dollars conditioned according to law.

Emancipation of Henry Kirk

June 4, 1846
I, John Hall, of Scott County, KY, from motives of benevolence and
humanity... do hereby set free from slavery my negro man, Henry,
alias Henry Kirk, aged about 45 years (black complexion, 5 feet 5
inches high).

Emancipation of Jacob Masterson
Filed in Book 55 at page 27 of the deed records of
Mason County, KY
January 12, 1846
James Ward, Jr. and James Haynes of Mason County, KY, "emancipate
and set free our negro boy named Jacob (who calls himself Jacob
Masterson), about 5 feet 8 1/4 inches, mulatto color, and aged about
33 years and being the same boy sold to us by Robert Moran."
Emancipation of Edmund Middleton
Filed in Book 54 at Page 255 of the deed records of
Mason County, KY
Know all men by these presents that for and in consideration of ____
hundred dollars to me in hand paid, I have this day emancipated and
set free and do hereby emancipate and set free the negro slave
Edmund and do hereby covenant and agree to and with the said Edmund
to warrant and defend the liberty hereby granted to him against the
claim or claims of all persons claiming from, by, through or under
him and against the claims of all persons whomsoever.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 14th
day of April 1845.

The following recorded June 16, 1845:
Mason County, KY April Court 1845
Deed of emancipation from Robert T. Blanchard to Edmund Middleton
was produced in open Court and acknowledged by the said Robert T.
Blanchard to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned.
And the same is ordered to be recorded. And the said Edmund
Middleton, being in open court, is five feet seven inches high, dark
complexion and upwards of thirty years of age.
Whereupon the said Robert T. Blanchard executed and acknowledged in
open court a bond for the support of said Edmund Middleton with
Thomas Forman as his security in the penalty of five hundred dollars
conditioned as the law requires.
