Noah Spears to Abel Thornton                          

part lot No 32 Paris
This indenture made this twenty fifth day of December A. D. One thousand eight hundred and fifty four between Noah Spears and Margaret M Spears his wife of the County of Bourbon and State of Kentucky, a party of the first part and Abel Thornton a free man of color of the county aforesaid, a party of the second part Witnesseth. That the said party of the first part for and in consideration of Three hundred and twenty five dollars in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain sell convey  and confirm unto the said party of the second part all that part of a portion of an in lot situated on Main Street in the Town of Paris and known and designated on the Platt of said Town by its number 32 and which part thereof is included in the following boundaries to wit; Beginning at a point in the Margin of Walnut Street fifty fee 8 inches from its intersection with Main Street, Running thence at right angles from said Walnut Street and parallel with Main 36 feet and 10 inches to an Alley running into said lot from Main Street, thence in a line with said alley and at right angles from Main Street 36 feet & 7 inches, thence at right angles from the line of said alley 36 feet and 10 inches to Walnut Street, and thence at the margin of Walnut 36 feet and 7 inches to the Beginning. It is hereunto understood by the parties that the Ice house at the lower end of said lot and the walls around the Same are not included or conveyed by this Deed or whether included in the above boundary or not are reserved by the said Spears. Together with the premises belonging or appertaining thereto. To have and to hold the land and premises a foresaid unto the said party of the second part his Heirs and assigns forever and the said party of the first part do covenant that they will warrant the property herby conveyed to the said party of the second part his Heirs and assigns against the claims of all and every person or persons whatever. I Richard J. Brown Clerk of the County Court of said county do certify that on this day the foregoing Deed was produced to me in said County and acknowledged and delivered by Noah Spears and M. M. Spears his wife parties thereto to be their act and deed. whereupon the said Deed together with this certificate hath been duly admitted to record in my office. Abel Thornton of color to Thomas W. Owings                 

house & part lot in Paris

    This indenture made and entered into this twenty fifth day of December eighteen hundred and fifty four between Abel Thornton a man of color party of the first part and Thomas W. Owings party of the second part witnesseth;

    That for and in Consideration of the sum of One hundred dollars in hand paid to the party of the first part by the party of the second part. He the said party of the first part hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell to the party of the second part his Heirs and assigns his house and part of a lot in Paris, which he purchased of Noah Spears and in which he now reside to have and to hold the same to the party of the second part his Heirs and assigns together with all and singular the promises appurtenance unto the laws belonging.  But this Conveyance is made up the following condition that whereas the said party of the first part hath executed to the party of the second part promissory note, dated the 25th Dec 1854 for One hundred dollars payable one day after date if the said party of the first part, Shall not and and truly pay said sum of money when due, then this conveyance shall be void and no effect otherwise to remain in full force.

    In testimony whereof the said party of the first part set his hand and seal the date first above written.
