Thomas McClanahan Estate Records

  1. Thomas McClanahan Estates-Settled Book A-Part 1-dated 30 January 1815-Pages 29-32.

    On page 31 "By this sun received of Peggy Johnson-the valuation of negro

    girl Bet-$160.00

  2. Documents for Thomas McClanahan estate # 1285. His will was proven 06 Oct. 1834 page 583-584.

He stated, "I desire that all my negroes and their increase(?) be equally divided between my daughter Maria Watkins and the children of Margaret Ward. …If my his negro man Sampson and his negro woman Hannah be alive at the death of my wife. I desire that they shall not be hired out but good care taken of them by my daughter Maria Watkins and the children of my daughter Margaret Ward."

The inventory dated 06 Oct 1834 page 584 lists the following:

One negro girl Sarah-$250.00

One negro Hannah-$200.00

The appraisal dated 05 Dec 1834 page 593 lists the following:

One negro girl Winney-$375.00

One negro boy-Andnser(?)-$450.00

One negro boy-William-$400.00

One negro old man Sampson of no value-$00.00

One negro old woman Hannah of no value-$00.00
