“Know all men by these presents that I,
Samuel W. Stark of the County of Barren and State of Kentucky for
divers good causes do by these presents forever Emancipate and Set
free a Negro Man named Henry which ascended to me from my Father
Daniel Stark. Said Negro Man is of a Copper Colour about forty years
of age. I do hereby set him free and discharge him from all Service
to me hereafter. In witness whereof I have hereinto Set my hand and
Seal this 17th day of January 1842.”

“Know all men by these presents that I,
John C. Cosby, of the County of Barren and state of Kentucky for and
in consideration of the sum of one dollar to me in hand paid the
receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge; and in consideration of the
faithful services of a Negro man slave named David; said slave being
my property and in my possession. Do hereby and by virtue hereof
emancipate and set free said Negro man David. And I do hereby for
myself my heirs & henceforth and forever free and emancipate from
any and all claims, which I or any other person, or persons,
claiming title by or through me have or hereafter might have to the
services of said slave David. Given under my hand and seal this 18th
day of December 1843.”

“Know all men that I David Cosby (a man
of colour) for and in consideration of the natural love and
affection I bear to my son Fountain a slave do by these presents
liberate set free and emancipate said slave Fountain, and do hereby
release for myself my heirs and assigns all claims to the services
of the said Slave Fountain – given under my hand and seal this 15th
day of Nov. 1847.”

good and valuable consideration to me thereto moving- Said Daniel is
a Negro slave aged about 49 years – yellow complexion – slender –
about 6 feet high. And he is hereby fully discharged from all
services to me, my heirs & assigns & all persons claiming under me.
Given under my hand and seal this 17th day of November
1845.”

Williams Evans, being the owner of a
Negro man named Joshua aged between 50 & 60 years, black, about 5
feet 10 inches high, and for good consideration tome thereunto
moving, I do hereby forever emancipate & discharge from all
liability to sere me or any other person- as a slave, but that he
shall henceforth be a free man & entitled to all the privileges
granted to free persons of colour, by the laws of Kentucky. Given
under my hand this 19th day of July 1847.”

Henry Hays of Barren County Kentucky being the owner of two Negro
slaves viz: a Negro man named Dick – a dark color & about 53 years
of age and a Negro woman named Rebecca a little inclined to be
yellow & about the same age – do hereby emancipate set free and
forever discharge said Negroes from the service of myself my heirs &
all other persons whatever. Given under my hand this 16th
day of May 1848.”
