SALE OF A MAN NAMED MILL

Sale of a man named Mill in 1856
in Lexington, Missouri.
Mill was brought from
Scottsville, Allen, Kentucky to
Odessa, Lafayette, Missouri in
November 1852 with Martha
Waggoner. At her death,
Mill and another unnamed negro
woman were sold to close her
estate. The only
information found on the woman
was that she was sold for $610.
To the Lafayette County Probate
Court.
The identified Adm. Of the
estate of Martha Wagoner
deceased makes the
following report of his ????
???????? the sale of a man
belonging to widow's estate.
Pursuant to the adm. of said
court I did administer the sale
of said
slave named Mill. I am ???
from the date of said sale until
the ?? of sale. In the American
Citizen a news paper published
in the city of Lexington.
Said advertisement contained
notice of the time, terms, and
place of sale. And
pursuant to said adm said
advertisement I did in the 4th
day of February AD 1856 before
the Court House down in said
county. While the County Court
for said county was in session.
Offer said slave Mill for sale
by auction an a credit of six
months. John Hammond ???
bid for said slave the sum of
six hundred and eleven dollars
was the highest bidder thereon
and because the purchase said
slave ??? ??? and having given
his note with receipt for said
man pay after six months after
date. I delivered said
slave to him. All of which
is submitted Feb 5th 1856.
