Elva MILLER BROWN Mrs. Elva Miller Brown, 92, of Barbourville, formerly of Wheeler, passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 20, 2007 in the Knox County Hospital. She was a daughter of the late George and Rosa Jones Miller born on November 5, 1914 at Wheeler. She was a former homemaker and enjoyed sewing and gardening. For 43 years, she was a member of the Piney Chapel Baptist Church at Wheeler where she served as church clerk for 28 years, Sunday school secretary/treasurer for 32 years and as a Sunday school teacher. In 1981, she became a member of the Kayjay Baptist Church. On January 15, 1945, she united in marriage with Bill Brown in Bell County and to this union three children were born.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, on October 8, 1972; three brothers, Shelby, Riley and Richard Miller; and two sisters, Viola Halcomb and husband, Vernon, and Gracie Atkins and husband, Bishop. Survivors include her children, Marvin "P.D." Brown and wife, Soundra, of Bimble, Janie Coeburn and husband, Wayne, of Canton, OH and Joyce Baker and fiance, Cliff Williamson, of Barbourville; seven beloved grandchildren, Scott Brown and wife, Kim, and Greg Brown all of Chattanooga, TN, Tim Coeburn of Roxboro, NC, Luke Waddle and wife, Jennie, of Strawberry Plains, TN, Jackie Brown of Chattanooga, TN, Kendra Burgess and husband, Jeff, of Canal Fulton, OH and Tara Baker of Barbourville; eight great grandchildren, Kelsy and Victoria Brown of Houston, TX, Ryan and Harley Waddle of Strawberry Plains, TN, Cody and Noah Coeburn of Danville, VA, Julian Blalock of Barbourville and Steven Powell of Chattanooga, TN; her special friends, Vinnie Jones, Shirley Sams and Jenny Lane; a caregiver, Marsha Martin; among other loved ones and dear friends who mourn her passing. Her funeral service was conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, February 23 at 2 p.m. with Rev. B. F. Jackson officiating.Mrs. Brown was laid to rest in the Jonestown Cemetery. Casket bearers were Scott Brown, Greg Brown, Tim Coeburn, Luke Waddle, Jeff Burgess, Cliff Williamson, Troy Maynes and James Stevenson. Honorary bearers were the members of the Kayjay Baptist Church and her friends and neighbors. Arrangements were under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
