George WILLIAMS Mr. George "Willie" R. Williams Jr., 69, of Cannon, passed away Tuesday morning, July 4, 2006 in the Knox County Hospital. He was a son of the late George R. Williams Sr. and Sadie Jane Wyatt Williams born on July 25, 1936 in Laurel County. Mr. Williams was a former sheet metal worker with Kelly and Carpenter Co. He was a member of the Friendship Holiness Church and the Mountain Lodge # 187 F&AM. Mr. Williams served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, flowers and being with his grandchildren. He was also an avid University of Kentucky fan. On October 13, 1978, he united in marriage with Mae Parker in Hamilton, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters and a granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Eversole. include his wife, Mae Williams of Cannon; seven children, George R. Williams III, Samuel Williams and wife, Brenda, and Dwayne T. Williams and wife, Jessica, all of Hamilton, OH, Terry M. Williams and wife, Gina, of Fairfield, OH, Valeria Tucker of Lexington, William R. Tucker Jr. and Stacy D. Tucker and wife, Chasity, all of Richmond; a brother, Michael Williams and wife, Loraine, of Hamilton, OH; two brothers-in-law, William Moore of Fairfield, OH and Al Trieber of Palentine, IL; 21 grandchildren; a great grandchild; among other loved ones and dear friends who mourn his passing. His funeral service was conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, July 7 at 1 P.M. with Rev. David Rice and Rev. Ricky Broughton officiating. He was laid to rest in the Parker-Baker Cemetery in Jackson Co. with military funeral honors by the American Legion Friday at 4 P.M. Casket bearers were family and friends. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the doctors and staff at Knox Family Medicine for the excellent care given to Mr. Williams. Arrangements were under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home. |
