Maxine Helton Steele, 78, of Corbin, Ky., died Sunday, June 29, 2008 at Baptist Regional Medical Center, Corbin. Mrs Steele was born on Aug. 25, 1929 in Knox County, Ky., a daughter to the late Willard Helton and the late Dora Wright Helton. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Frank Steele, two brothers, Harold and Glenn Helton; one sister, Norma Helton and one grandson, Ernie Steele Jr. Mrs. Steele was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Candle Ridge Baptist Church. She was an avid volunteer at the Chapel House, Friendship House and the Corbin Senior Citizens Group. Mrs. Steele had previously worked at RCA in Cincinnati, Ohio, Elicon of Corbin, local restaurants and retired as a Tupperware sales manager. She is survived by two sons, Jackie Steele Sr. and wife Joyce, of London, Ky.; Ernie Steele and wife Lynn, Ashland, Ky.; one brother, James Helton, of Jackson, Ky.; four sisters, Peggy Hutton, Gray, Ky., Myrna Elliott, Cincinnati, Ohio, Betty Medlin, Gray, Ky., Bonnie Engle, Gray, Ky.; 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, relatives and loved ones. Funeral service conducted Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at Corbin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Smith officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Knox County, Ky. Pallbearers were Wallace Engle, Jake Ryan Steele, Joe Web, Darrell Childers, Jackie Steele Jr., Jeremy Steele.
