Ruth Partin Sowders (May 21, 1913 - December 7, 2007) Ruth Partin Sowders age 94, of Artemus, was born there on May 21, 1913. She was a daughter of the late William T. Partin and Winnie Bray Partin. Mrs. Sowders died at her residence, Friday, December 7, 2007. She was a member of the Artemus Baptist Church and was a homemaker. On November 20, 1932, she united in marriage to Squire Bill Sowders. She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Squire Bill of forty three years; Her Pappy, William Thomas Partin and her Mammy, Winnie Jane Bray Partin, and her Paternal Grandmother, Granny Partin, who she loved very much; Her Brothers; Edward, John, Andrew, William Henry,and Richard Partin; Her Sisters; Sarah Matilda Bays, Ida Grubb and Hester Partin; Special Nieces; Roberta Bain, Elsie Bray, and Lavina Greene; Dear Friend and Sister-in-law; Polly Ann Carnes. Ruth is survived by several dear nieces and nephews; Rufus Bays, Amy West, Majel Gray Bays; Tommy Grubb, Paul Grubb, Winnie Grubb Sims, Richard Wayne Partin, John Partin and Phyllis Neff; Sister-in-law; Mrs. Richard (Maxine) Partin of Mount Orab, Ohio and children; Chris, Tina, Preston and Ruthann; Devoted Friends and Caregivers; Harry and Jean Sowders of Artemus, and Children; Elaine and Husband, Kevin; Jeannie and Husband, George; Jay and Wife, Tina; Rodney and Wendy and Jed and Devin; Dear and Loving Friends; Ella Mae and Jim Haldorf and Oma Fuson. Funeral Services for Ruth Partin Sowders will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Sunday, December 9, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. James Michael Lawson and Rev. Larry Sowders officiating. Interment will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery, with dear friends and neighbors serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. James West and Staff and the Knox County Home Health Staff. The Sowders family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home Saturday 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and after 10:00 a.m. Sunday until the funeral hour. Arrangements will be under the direction of Hopper Funeral Home.
