| AXIE SMITH, 73, of Hinkle, Ky, the daughter of the late Taylor and Mary Gambrel Smith, was born in Knox County on Sept. 15, 1928 and passed away in the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin on Friday, May 10, 2002. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church; she was a homemaker. She was united in marriage to Henry T. Smith and to this union eight children were born. She is survived by five daughters, Delania Floyd and husband Kenny, Middletown, Ohio; Lois Smith, Mason, Ohio, Geraldine Phillips, Corbin, Mary Ruth Riley, Hinkle, Linda Sue Miles and husband Gary, Hinkle; one son, John Anderson Smith and wife Lana, Hinkle; eight sisters, Mrs Abbie Riley, Green Road, Mrs. Mae Harris, Hinkle, Mrs. Christiline Barrett and husband Darrell, Dewitt, Mrs. Darlene Grubb and husband Jerry, Hinkle and Mrs. Frances Sue Messer and husband Dexter, Hinkle ; four brothers, Mr. Brandy Smith, Hinkle, Mr. Golden Smith and wife Cleda, Woollum, the Rev. Owen Smith and wife Linda, Hinkle, Rev. Tip Smith and wife Mageline, Hinkle; 15 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted in Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, May 13, 2002 with the Rev. William Cobb and the Rev. Marvin Jones officiating. Interment was in the Cottongim Cemetery at Woollum. Hampton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. |
