WILLIAM E. NAU, 80, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, formerly of Barbourville, passed away Thursday, September 23, 1999 in the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital. He was the son of the late Herman Morris and Lula Kurner Nau born on February 16, 1919 in Wheeling, West Virginia. He was a veteran of World War II, flying the B-25 in China, Burma and India, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross and American Air Medal. He also flew a DC-3 with American Airlines. Mr. Nau was the owner of several businesses in Barbourville including Hampton & Nau, H & N 5 & 10 and the Knox Dollar Store. Survivors include his wife, Ina Blair Nau of Mt. Pleasant, SC. Funeral services and burial were private. Expressions of sympathy may go to the football program at Union College in loving memory of William E. Nau.
