Roger Lee MILLS Roger Lee Mills, 55, of Gray, passed away Monday, Oct. 31, 2005. He was a son of the late Tip Mills Jr. and Classie Broughton Mills, born to them on Dec. 11, 1949 at Scalf. Roger was a well-known master logger and a member of the Sinking Valley Baptist Church. On July 20, 1966, he united in marriage to Linda Sue Broughton and to this union, one son, Roger Lee Jr. and two daughters, Heather and Donna Kay were born. Roger was preceded in death, along with his parents, by a brother, Ben F. Mills and four infant brothers and sisters. Roger is survived by his loving family; his wife of over 38 years: Linda Sue Broughton Mills of Gray. His son: Roger Lee Mills Jr. of Gray. His daughters: Heather Mills Gray and husband Shawn of Scalf, and Donna Kay Cooper and husband Gary of Scalf. His granddaughter: Kayla Mills. His grandsons: Justin Cooper, Austin Cooper and Shane Gray. His brothers: Harold Mills and wife Sue of Bailey Switch; George Mills of Dayton, Ohio; and Joe Mills of Barbourville. His sisters: Wanda Sue Vaughn of Bimble and Maxine Wilma Colley and husband Mike of Columbus, Mich. Several aunts and uncles. His sisters-in-law: Lovella Messer and husband Nelson of Cannon, and Purity Lewis and husband Patrick of Barbourville. His brothers-in-law, Rev. David Broughton and wife Janice of Cannon; Vocus Broughton of Cannon; Linville Broughton and wife Nina of Cannon, Steve Broughton and wife Doris of Cannon; Perry Broughton and wife Richie of Cannon; and Darris Broughton and wife Stephanie of Cannon; and a host of nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 4, at 2 p.m. at the Sinking Valley Baptist Church at Cannon with Rev. Vernon Morris and Rev. Johnny Fisher officiating. Burial was in the Bingham Cemetery at Cannon. Pallbearers were: Jerry Baker, Dwight Davis, Jerry Gray, Howard Colley, George Mills, Nicholas Lawson, Lee Mullins, Harold Ray Mills and Dennis Taylor. Honorary bearers were: The Sinking Valley Baptist Church. Hopper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. |
